I am trying to get Acrobat Distiller to run on Windows XP. I have 5.05 installed, and everytime I try to create a document from Pagemaker, I get this error:

Source: 1.ps
%%[ Error: rangecheck; OffendingCommand: image; ErrorInfo: Decode --nostringval-- ]%%

Stack:
-dict-

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Distill Time: 1 seconds (00:00:01)
* *** End of Job ****

Has anyone ever encountered this one before? I am SO Frustrated.

Thanks in advance!

How exactly are you trying to create a PDF?

Printing a pdf from Fm+SGML on W2K.

I get this error only with a Canon printer set up. If I use a HP printer, it is fine.

If you want to create PostScript for distilling into a PDF, you need to use the Acrobat Distiller printer PPD.

I also get a similiar message when I try to print a file to distiller. In Publisher it looks perfect but when I try to bring it up I get a error box which says that the file is corrupt or you need to use distiller to print it which is what I did. I word or excel i get a similar error message to what Eli said and it is frustrating. I have tried everything I know to do.

"when I try to bring it up"

Define "bring it up".

"word or excel i get a similar error message"

Provide the exact error message.

Try printing to a file (.ps) and then opening that file in Distiller. This usually works best for me. I often find printing to distiller printer gives unwanted results, especially half tone screening.
