I use the Peachtree Accounting Software at work on a Windows 2000 PC where I have full administrative rights, and recently installed the full version of Adobe Acrobat 5.05 -- the idea being that I can convert documents (reports) from Peachtree directly into PDF files, as before I could export them only to Excel. So, when I open the reports it will let me choose to send it to the Adobe Distiller instead of my usual printer, and creates the PDF file (hooray!). The problem comes afterwards: in Peachtree I then cannot access any of my other reports, and get the following message:
"Cannot open file C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\RPTDATA.DAT. Select help for more information."
(Which is of course, never very helpful!). So my question is, is this an Adobe Acrobat problem, or a Peachtree problem? Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!
Have you tried Distiller?

To reproduce the problem:
1. Create directory c:\TEST
2. Add a new PDF port and direct it to folder "c:\test"
3. Start Peachtree Complete Accounting version 8.0
4. From Peachtree, print to the Acrobat Distiller 5.05
5. Peachtree will issue a series of error messages such as "Cannot open file c:\test\rptdata.dat", for various files that reside in the PEACHTREE data directory
Theory of failure:
The Acrobat Distiller changes the "Current Directory" of the system, and Peachtree relies on the "Current Directory" to access its files.
If this theory is correct, then directing Acrobat 5 to the Peachtree data folder will work around the problem. I have not tested this becuase this is not a practical solution for us - it would put the accounting files at risk.
