I have Acrobat Reader 5.0 and Adobe Reader 7.0, which were bundled by computer manufacturer. Using Averatec notebook 4200 series, XP Home SP2.
When trying to download a PDF document I get a message saying that Windows has encountered an inconvenience and needs to close.
It further states that ACROpdf.dll was in use at the time of the crash.
I don't know whether my programs are out-of-date, whether ACROpdf.dll is broken, or what???
So.....any and all help and suggestions will be welcome. I am fairly proficient but far from expert, and I never go near the Registry without a guide. (If I need to update or upgrade something, I do not want to upgrade to a "pay" product at this time.)
Many thanks!

Many thanks for the 'heads up'. I checked out the security notice, fiddled around with the .dll and ultimately found it easier to update to Acrobat Reader 8.0.
And the good news is that my problem is fixed. I can now open the PDF docs without difficulty!
Thanks again.
