Can I somehow insert a picture in PDF format into the Word document?

No. But there are a variety of workarounds. The best one would be to use Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to rasterize the PDF into a TIFF. Another possibility would be to save the PDF from Adobe Acrobat as a TIFF. The main advantage of using Photoshop or Illustrator to rasterize is that those programs allow anti-aliasing of vectors and fonts in the resulting TIFF.
