I'm trying to convert a scanned PDF file into a word document. Is this possible? I've heard some say that it needs to be scanned a certain way and on are scanner we have text, text/photo, photo, and dot matrix. I just want to be able to edit the document because other wise I have to use an old typewriter to do this. Lets help me out.

A scanned PDF consist of only an image of the page or a picture. You could always cut and paste the image into Word. If you want the text you will need to OCR the image of the text into a file with text. This file could be either the text, or the image and hidden text of the image's text. Only certain versions of Acrobat have this feature and the image needs to meet a certain quality for the OCR to work. There are also 3rd party products that can convert images into searchable PDFs.
