Pdf link within pdf file not working

I can open pdf files with reader 5.0 without trouble, but when I click on the hyperlink within the pdf document to open up another pdf document, it opens up a the web browser window with no acrobat reader within it and no error messages posted. I tried the pdfs on another computer and it works, so it is not the pdfs. I reinstall the application and tried other pdfs, but to no avail. Any suggestion?
