A client is sending me what appears to be a PDF file (it should be a drawing)but I have been unable to open it. Opening as a Word DOC brings up the following information
"Program : PDIF-OUT VERSION 8.6 "
How do I open & view it?

What are the first 3-4 lines of the file, when you view them in Word?
Where is that Program: line coming from?

The file isn't a PDF. If you were expecting to receive a PDF it appears that the file name should be "a7340.pdf"

This is copied from the first 6 lines of the file when opened with WORD. Hope it helps.
Thanks

That's not a "Portable Document Format" file, it's a "P-CAD Database Format" file.

Confusingly enough, this is a PDF, just not the right kind.

http://www.webdesk.com/filename-extensions/p.shtml lists five meanings
of PDF.

.pdf Database Interchange Format (PCAD)
.pdf Graphics file (ED-SCAN 24bit format)
.pdf Package definition file (download info) (Microsoft SMS)
.pdf Portable Document Format (Adobe Acrobat)
.pdf Print device information (Netware)

and this certainly isn't a complete list!
