All,

I have a need to keyword search about 3,000 PDF files. Can someone please direct me to a product that can do this?

Is there a way to do it in either ADOBE READER or WRITER...

Thanks in advance.

The Adobe Acrobat Search command allows you to perform full text searches of PDF
documents and collections that have been indexed with Acrobat Catalog which comes with full Acrobat (see Help > Acrobat Help).

Tobias

P.-S. To search the indexed files, you need either full Acrobat or Acrobat Reader with the Search plug-in.

IF you set up these indexes using catalog the user will only be able to search them if they have Reader with Search. The search function is not possible with all versions of Acrobat Reader, and usually is not the default download. Please be aware of this problem.

Could these catalogs be accessed via an Intranet website, or is a web-based/javascript search engine needed?

The Acrobat Catalog index cannot be accessed using the internet/intranet. There are web based indexing/search engines that will do this.
