Win 98 Adobe Acrobat 5.05 When downloading PDF documents from the web, Adobe 5.05 now crashes when I attempt to save the document to my disk on my home computer. <CTRL><ALT> doesn't work. I need to do a hard reboot to recover. Saving worked on my home computer without difficulty when adobe acrobat was first installed. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the adobe acrobat but the problem persist. Since I can download and save the same pdf documents on other computers, I assume that I have some incompatable software running on my home computer. Any ideas?

I noticed that typing "DEL" has special meaning in this forum!. The deleted part of my original message was: <CTRL><ALT>"DEL" doesn't work. I need to do a hard reboot to recover. You might try to open a web site from within Acrobat, or use another browser. The problem you have sounds like a virus and not an Acrobat problem.

I have exactly the same problem. I can do a save without a problem but I cannot do a save as without crashing. Even ctrl-alt-delete doesn't work. I litterally have to push the power button to restart computer. I can create new documents without a problem. The document I have problems with in my computer, works fine on another, so that tells me its not the file that is corrupted. I'm pulling hairs here. Please help!

Just thought I'd add that I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Writer 5.0 and added postcript printer drivers and so far nothing has worked.

What is Abobe Writer, and where can I get it? I have heard so much about it in these forums, but I have never, ever seen it. I assume it is for putting grafitti on walls constructed of mud and straw bricks. Does it just create the grafitti on the surface, like spray paint, or does it cut right into the bricks, like a stylus?

While we are in a question mode, what have you installed on your computer, other than uninstall and reinstall of Acrobat, between the time it worked and the time it did not?

Also, there are several ways to save a PDF from the web to your hard disk. Have you tried more than one? If not, what method are you using?

So far I hadn't had to do any save as, so I don't know if it ever worked or not. I have another desktop in which I also installed and it works fine. I haven't added or subtracted software or hardware to either one of the pc's.
