2 PCS both running Windows XP Professional
1 PC runs Adobe 5, the other 7
Both PCs print fine to other printers. They also print fine from any other application to the plotter (a HP DesignJet 500 24"+HPGL2 card).
The PC running version 7 comes up with out of memory errors printing from Adobe. Sometimes it doesn't print at all, other times it will print but it will only print some of the content of the page.
The PC running version 5 can print A4 size okay, but not A1 oversize to use the 24" roll. When you try A1 oversize it does the same as the other PC however there is an additional tab in Adobe 5 where you can check a box that says "avoid out of memory". If you check this, it simply errors out saying "Could not print".
The odd thing is, both PCs worked fine until yesterday yet the only common factor in both is the install of Adobe. We have tried all the rebooting/installing drivers and have gone through every stage of testing which only leaves Adobe as the culprit.
The Adobe 7 PC did install an update for Adobe yesterday, but the client claims that the problems ocurred before the update and the update was an attempt to solve the problem.
We're a bit stuck as to what to suggest apart from upgrading Adobe to V8 on both computers - which is a cost they won't want and shouldn't need if everything was working fine!
Any suggestions?
Print as Image does work for Acrobat 5, but extremely slowly.
It does not work for Acrobat 7 as Acrobat just produces out of memory or crashes:
Application Failure acrobat.exe 7.0.8.218 in acrobat.dll 7.0.8.218 at offset 0024a5e7..
I'm running the full update to bring it to 7.0.9 though as to whether that will make any difference I doubt it.
There is a printing option in v5 which lets you prevent out of memory errors and this is what is allowing v5 to print when v7 can't. This option doesn't appear to be available anywhere in v7 unless it is very well hidden..
