Hello!
I have Acrobat Reader 5.05, and I am using Windoze 2000 server. When I start Acrobat Reader once, and then close it, the program ACRORD32.EXE keeps staying in memory as a PROCESS and eats up over 21 Mb of memory!!!
Okay, I can kill that proccess, but this is not a sollution.

Also, when starts, Reader 5.05 utilizes my disk & processor 100% for 20-30 seconds. The same was with 5.0 and 5.0.5 version!

Any idea?

Memory: Why is this a problem? Can't you afford 21 MB of disk space?

Slow startup: is there a particular message on Acrobat's splash screen
for a long time during startup? Or do all the messages change very
quickly?

Aandi thanx for reply, but an application, which is using 21 Mb of MEMORY (NOT disk space!!!) when it is NOT running - this is extremely weird!
Actually, it is NOT the application, but a PROCESS, which uses memory. All other processes, which run on my computer, are each below 10 Mb consumption. So this ACRORD32.EXE is an extremely hungry aplication, which uses my resources. Since I do not use it all the time, I do not want it to be in my process list.

That IS a problem!

Slow startup in according to experience with 4.0 version. Since I just want to take a look into a document, it is actually just a viewer - why the hek it utilizes my dual PENTIUM so much?

I am having the same problem. I have IE 6.0.2600 and Acrobat Reader 5.0.5. I can open up one PDF document and it works fine. If I try to open up a second document nothing happens. I have to close acrord32.exe in the task manager before I can open up another one.

You may be able to change your Adobe Acrobat Options to correct this problem. Below are instructions for 5.0. I did this and it seems to be working correctly now.

1. From the Edit pull down menu select Preferences.
2. Select Options from the list at left.
3. From Web Browser Options, take check out of “Display PDF in browser”.
4. Click OK.

I have Reader 11 (verions 11.0.2.0) installed. When I open and close the application there is still an Adobe process running. On my Windows XP machine, it takes over 100% of processing and the CPU fans kicks into high gear!

I found that if I changed the properties of AcroRd32.exe, the process quit when the application closes. Select the Advanced button on the General tab and uncheck the Archive/Indexing attributes.
