Hello,

I have noticed that for some subjects, diagnostic at baseline (as stored in DXSUM_PDXCONV_ADNIALL) is not the congruent with the "DX group" (as stored in IDA). For example, see subjects 021_S_0332, 023_S_0078, 033_S_0739, 100_S_0190, 100_S_0995, 100_S_1154 and 100_S_1226.

Is that an error?

By the way, some fields in DXSUM_PDXCONV_ADNIALL contains a lot of null character that make it hard to open for most software.

Thanks in advance,
Mathieu

Hi Mathieu,

The IDA uses the diagnosis at the screen visit, while DXSUM_PDXCONV_ADNIALL contains the diagnosis at baseline (in addition to other visits).  The baseline visit includes a lot more information acquired on the participants, so the clinical core has encouraged the use of the baseline diagnosis in DXSUM_PDXCONV_ADNIALL as the diagnosis at baseline.  There were a handful of participants who changed diagnoses between the screen visit and the baseline visit (mainly considered due to more available information rather than a true progression or reversion of diagnosis).

A person from LONI fixed the null character problem for DXSUM_PDXCONV_ADNIALL.csv file.

Please download the new file from LONI.

Hi Danielle,

Thanks for the detailled answer. I guess it means that one should use IDA "DX Group" with caution.

Hi Danielle,

I have just noticed that there is a BLCHANGE file. Does this summarize the changes you described?

Hi Mathieu,

Your best bet at finding information about changes in diagnosis is with the DXSUM_PDXCONV_ADNIALL.csv file (and ARM.csv file for the screening diagnosis).

Thanks, I have been able to match the "DX Group" column to information extracted from ARM. The only difference is that "LMCI" subjects in "DX Group" are considered "MCI" subjects in ARM.

P.S.: I have edited the previous messages because I mistakenly used "research group" instead of "DX Group".
