Good morning

I am writing to check regarding Adnimerge download for ADNI 1 study. Please could you clarify whether IMAGEUID means an image unique ID and is not a measurement. Similarly, please confirm for the following entries: Ventricles, Hippocampus, While Brain (and other parts) are the entries only image IDs or measurements of the parts? I attach the data downloaded from ADNI with respective entries.

If the entries are merely ID numbers, where can I get the brain parts measurements for the study, please?

Thank you.
Best regards,
Tatiana

Hi Tatiana,

In ADNIMERGE, IMAGEUID is a unique image identifier, while Ventricles, hippocampus and Whole brain are volumetric measurements derived from FreeSurfer. If you want more regional measurements, you can also refer to the different FreeSurfer files (generated by UCSF and available on the Study Data page under the MRI section). There are associated data dictionaries and methods documents so you can better understand what variables are included in the files.

Dear Danielle

Thank you very much for your response, that makes sense.
I have another question: for the purpose of implementing 3 ML algorithms (Logistic Regression, Random Forrest, Decision Tree) can I use factors (candidate predictors) recorded at the baseline, for example X=FDG_bl, ABETA_bl, TAU_bl, PTAU_bl and the Y = DX (dementia status at a follow up date) data i.e. non base-line. Is there any (technical) issue with simultaneously using data points recorded at different points in time (i.e. _bl versus non - _bl).

Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Tatiana
