Participants from ADNI-1 continuing on to ADNI-GO and 2 were scanned at 1.5T unless there was a change of scanner such that the 1.5T scanner was no longer available. There were some participants who switched to 3T for this reason.
According to the methods document for the FreeSurfer summaries (available for download on the LONI Study Data page where you can find the FreeSurfer data), "the input for ADNI FreeSurfer is a T1 weighted image (MPR or IR-SPGR) in NiFTI format which has been pre-processed (gradient warping, scaling, B1 correction and N3 inhomogeneity correction) by Mayo Clinic"
