SO NOW FOR THE NEW TOPIC:

The phenomenon to be explored is the effect that sleeping habits, time management and nutrition play on academic performance in university/college students. This is an area of inquiry and one that should be examined because ultimately post-secondary education leads to a good livelihood.

Strengths
One, this is an area that has been somewhat delved into by experts in psychology, social science and health giving us a good breadth of knowledge from a wide array of sources. Second, as a result it made it easier for us to find standardized scales and measures to look at as examples to help us come up with our own and incorporate into our assignment.Third, as university students it makes our job easier at finding participants to employ in our data collection.

Weaknesses
A big issue is really the amount of subjectivity involved even with some of our variables having standardized scales to work from.

Hey T, I think you should wait until the methods and findings are done
that way you will determine what the strengths and weaknesses were
overall. For example, one of the weaknesses could be that we were
unable to get the exact GPA of students, however a strength could be
we were able to get students to rank themselves from a scale from 1-10
1=poor 10=excellent in terms of how well they are performing in
school.

WEAKNESS...
  • SMALL SAMPLE SIZE TO WORK FROM

To add to weakness....
  • our study excludes master's students
  • ranking question in our questionnaire people had difficulty understanding what we wanted from that question or did not rank or thought it was similar to the question before because of the similarity in options

WEAKNESS

A big issue is really the amount of subjectivity involved even with
some of
our variables having standardized scales to work from for our small
sample size.
There is also the factor of demographics where this only reaches out
to a
limited amount of undergraduate students with the exclusion of those
taking a
higher level degree. On top of that, one of the three variables we
chose to study
didn’t have much literature on it that is nutrition and its impact on
academic
performance hence by default it would get excluded somewhere down the
line
in our data analysis which is exactly what happened.

Also certain questions were not included because they were harder to use and measure what we were trying to study given our knowledge capacity as inexperienced researchers. The questions in particuliar were as follows Q11, Q16 and Q20-what we referred to as the ranking questions.

These limitations may have all played a toll in skewing our results.

Three questions (Q10, Q15, Q19) looking similar may have construed people's minds when they looked at the ranking question (Q19) we had in our survey with more specifically another question with similiar options (Q10) but just checkmarking had to be done for this one as to whatever applied to the individual.
