I have an Orbi RBR50. We switched to a Fiber Optics provider and since then netflix continues to buffer and have lower quality. I talked to the service provider and they don't see any issue on their end so I gather it's something with the Orbi. FM is V2.3.5.30. Any ideas on how to potentially fix the issue?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too? Built in router here by chance? Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. -far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
Here is what I found... Releasing the DHCP lease on the router will release the old IP address. It should then it pick up a new IP address. I did this until I got an IP address outside of that IP block. I also temporarily disabled the firewall within the router.
I am receiving the same error code from Netflix as well: Error code M7037-1101. All other sites work correctly except Netflix (including Youtube for me). But on my Fios home network, I cannot connect through the new STB option, computer or phone. However, Netflix works perfect when I turn the WiFi option off and stream through my LTE connection. It appears Fios has blocked or throttled Netflix.
Thanks for your suggestions. I have been working with Verizon tech support in the past a couple of days to solve this problem. They have done what can be done including reboot ont, router, etc., and even sent me a new gateway router.
I am having the same issue. Tried everything with no resolve. The interesting thing is that I can watch YouTube and Netflix via my computers but not through smart TV or mobile devices connected to wifi.
Thanks guys. I'm at a loss. Any attempts to connect to Netflix through any device on my network appears like it is blocked, behind a proxy. The Set Top Box shows the red Netflix on black screen and the loading symbol just spins. The laptops and phone pull only text, no images or graphics appear. If I turn WiFi off on my phone and use the LTE, Netflix instantly pulls in all of the info and graphics and works normally. All other sites I have tested seem to work completely fine. I have rebooted the ONT, router, devices, etc as mentioned to no avail. Any thoughts to be able to even explain this to a Verizon support person?
Having the same issue here in pittsburgh. Youtube works occasionally from my macbook, not at all on phone/ipad. No netflix at all. Pulls up fine when not on my home wifi. If verizon doesnt acknowledge this or find a fix I'm switching ISPs. This is ridiculous.
Agreed, it has been very hard. I do have a help ticket into Verizon which they are looking into this issue. I have sent them our tracert results and they do believe it is a bigger problem. They looked at it today but have said they will have something in 48 hours.
I experienced the same issue (with similar traceroute results) around the same time, also in Pittsburgh, PA. I believe it was resolved around the same time as well. The issue has resurfaced for me, as of this evening. I contacted both Netflix and FiOS when I first experienced the issue. I followed all recommended troubleshooting steps, but nothing helped. Both services blamed the other party. The issue resolved itself (earlier this month) with no action or changes on my end. I'm prepared to switch ISPs at this point.
I have the same issue in pittsburgh. The problem went away last week, then came back yesterday. Fios assures me they are not blocking, and claims the problem is on netflix's side. I find this dubious.
I have had in the past Netflix slowdowns when I had cable internet, and I called and they would blame my modem. However after unplugging my then modem and my router the speed returned. Was it Time Warner who said it was a Netflix issue, or Netflix who blamed Time Warner and my devices.
I can access my Netflix account via my computer and can stream to my Xbox and other laptops. I've been on the phone three different times with Netflix tech support and they're telling me it's currently a "known issue" with iPads - but there's no ETA and and I'm not seeing any other reports of this on other forums.
Both of my iPad2s (32gb WiFi) can now access NetFlix with no problem. However, these are my daughters' iPads. MY iPad is a 1st gen 64gb 3G and yet I still cannot access NetFlix. I'm getting the "cannot connect to Netflix at this time..." error.
Not sure what this "known issue" with iPads would be with Netflix's iPad app. That would be like Microsoft claiming a problem with Word for the Mac is an OS X or a particular Mac model problem they have nothing to do with whatsoever.
Just so you don't feel all alone on this, yes, I'm having exactly the same problem ... except that it's with my iPhone. I can connect through the TV and desktop ... but not using the Netflix application I just downloaded from the iTunes store. I launch the "app" using WIFI and get the "We are unable to connect you to Netflx. Please try again later" message. Worse ... the "app" is frozen ... so there's no maneuvering.
I am having the exact same issue on my iPad 2 (16gb wifi) and, just like you, the Netflix screen freezes with the error message up immediately upon opening the app. Also having no problems streaming from my iPhone, laptop, or PS3. Sorry I can't help but I'm glad I'm not alone!
So I called NetFlix tech support for the 4th time last night. This time, they didn't even pretend to have a clue what the problem was. They had me reinstall the app, they changed my password, blah blah blah. Finally they told me "it's obviously an Apple DNS issue you should make an appointment at the Genius Bar". HUH????You. Have. Got. To. Be. Kidding. Me. I can get to EVERY website and access my corporate Exchange email. This is NOT an DNS issue and Apple is not my ISP. So with that, I've canceled my NetFlix account.
I can't get access to netflix via iPad. I can via wii and computer. Netflix has sent me to apple but I don't want to pay 39.99 for support. Hoping someone knows what to do so I can get access given my son is using the wii right now
Assuming that your iPad (regardless of whether it's an iPad or iPad2) can connect to netflix.com through the iPad's Safari browser, you're probably not going to get this resolved. The problem is at the Netflix end and the fact that they are redirecting users to Apple indicates that they don't have a solution and are grasping at straws. That said, I suppose it's possible that Apple made a change in iOS 4.3.3 that may have broken connectivity with Netflix's streaming servers but if that were the case, we would see a lot more users complaining about this.
Coming around full circle (at least in my case), for sh!tz and grinz, I reopened my Netflix account today. Now I'm getting it once again on my iPad and both iPad2s. Note that I had to delete the Netflix app and reinstall it on all 3 iPads, but I'd done this MANY times over the past several weeks.
i'm assuming it's something on the netflix servers and how they handle requests from the apps on Apple devices. As you say they've obviously changed something on their backend. too bad they wouldn't own up to it instead of trying to say "Apple DNS" obviously they don't understand basic networking ;-)
I am having the same problem, started july 8. did a netflix rest in the settings box on my ipad1, reinstalled my app, then called netflix support. they found out that my ip address had me in Colorado, rather than Virginia, and that was the problem. I use DSL for my internet connection. They suggest I call Apple support, but Apple would not help. I will try to release my ip address and see if that fixes it.
I recently set up an OpenWRT router with client pptp, the router and VPN access work fine, but I can't get Netflix to work on smart tv.
I am using Private Internet Access.
The TV is connected via ETHERNET cable.
Youtube works perfectly, only netfix doesn't work.
assuming this diagnosis is correct ( likely )... the simple answer is "you don't"... the most common/pragmatic solution for this situation is to use Policy Routing to send netflix traffic only over the regular WAN and not the VPN.
You may also let netflix know... as a paying user, that this policy is not to your liking. Good luck with that... but assuming 15% of their user base did this tomorrow and then cancelled subscriptions.... you'd wonder what might result.
