change in launch site - Monday May 4th

May is finally here!!!  Our first paddle is scheduled for 11:00 this coming Monday (the 4th).  We'll be launching from the large DEC boat launch on Rt. 245 (this is before you get to Sunnyside Rd)  We scouted out the put in's this last week and feel this would be our best!  (this is a change from what is on the calendar)  We'll launch our boats and paddle on the West River, with the high water we might be able to explore the Naples Creek further than usual (hopefully).  We'll paddle for an hour, raft up for a snack, then return to our put in.  The weather right now looks promising!   60' with 20%chance of showers - so - come prepared!  Some of you might want to gather at "brats and brew" after the paddle to "lunch" and socialize.  (there is a port-a-poti at the launch site) 

As always:  Dress for the weather 

             Bring some extra clothing for "just in case" 

    Be prepared to wear your PFD correctly 

    Sign the ADK liability form 

    Keep an eye on other paddlers and stay with the leader 

    Arrive early enough to be 'on the water' at 11:00

Rt. 245 comes out of Naples.  If you are coming from Rt. 21 or Rt. 64 there is a detour.  

            Take the detour 

            Turn left on Greisha Hill Rd. To Rt. 21 

            Then turn left on Parrish Rd.  

            Turn left on Rt. 245 

      (this will be a little shorter than going into Naples with the entire detour)
