Monday's paddle (June 16th)

Great day at EXPO!  Thanks to all of you who volunteered!  

Monday we'll be paddling from Palmyra To Macedon and return.  This is a "longer day" paddle so be sure to bring a lunch, hydration, sunscreen, and not be in a hurry to get home.  

This is not a difficult paddle!  We will be paddling through 2 locks each way - you might want to bring along an old pair of work gloves to wear when holding onto the ropes in the locks. 

We'll launch our boats at Park Drive in Palmyra and paddle on the canal to Macedon - we'll stop at the canoe park in Macedon for our lunch, then return to our put in.   This is about a 5 hour "event"....depending on how long we are in the locks and how long we linger at lunch. 

Directions:  from Rochester - take Rt. 31 East to Palmyra, pass through the downtown area and turn left onto Throop St and right onto Park Drive.  The launch is at the end of Park Drive.  If you pass Rt. 21 N. On the left you have gone to far!!!  

Coming from the south - take Rt. 21 N, turn right on Rt. 31 and then left on Throop and right on Park Drive. 

I believe there are restrooms at both parks.  And I'm told there is ice cream nearby - that's where I'm going after the paddle!!!

The weather looks good....the locks are fun to travel through.  This should be a fun paddle.
