This Monday (June 2) we have to paddles for you to choose from!  And the weather looks perfect for a paddle!!! (finally).

Plan A,- For those wishing to check out something new, we have a paddle on the Chemung River.  We have a guide for this paddle who will meet us at Bottcher's landing in Big Flats at 9:30.  We are thinking this paddle will end about 3:30 but "who knows", do not come if you have afternoon commitments.  It is suggested we might not want to bring out kevlar and carbon boats - it's up to you.  We do have a few extra "play" kayaks available for borrowing....let me know if you want to do that.  There is also a kayak rental near by.  The paddle will be about 2 hours with the current, lunch perhaps at an island (bring bug spray - just in case) then another hour or so to our cars (which we have shuttled).  It sounds like a lovely paddle with lots to see along the way (this is not a white water paddle - maybe a ripple at times - and that's a maybe). We are looking at about 9 miles of paddling, with the current.

Directions:  Here's what I found for directions - 390 south, exit 48.  head right on the ramp for NY352 toward E.Corning.
Turn right onto NY 352/State Rt. 352  Turn Right onto S. Corning Rd (County highway 10
Turn left on Steege Hill Rd then immediately left onto old River Rd.

What to bring:  a sense of adventure!!  Sense of humor! Boat, paddles, PFD, hat, water, sunscreen, water shoes or sandals,
lunch, snacks,. Cell phone for pictures (please do not be taking and receiving calls).

This should be a fun and interesting trip - it's a bit of a drive but should be worth it.

Plan B - if you don't have the time or interest to do the longer day - Laurel will lead a 2 hour trip on Canadice Lake.  Meet at the north end DEC parking area for a 10:00-12:00 paddle.    Bring snacks and drink.  Of course, all your paddling equipment.  Call Laurel if you have any questions.  585-451-0103

*anyone available Saturday June 14th (EXPO) to help out with waterfront?  Let Marcia Barrett know.  585-732-9254
or July 5th (Saturday) to help with Geneva Paddle fest (on land or in the water) let Peg know.  Thanks!!
