This will be our 25th annual pancake hike. We will drive to the parade grounds entrance on the east side of the river at Letchworth State Park and hike south along the newly opened Finger Lakes Trail to the old RR crossing, and back. This will be about a 5-mile Class C+ hike, mostly flat, but snowshoes or spikes will probably be required as the trail may be very uneven due to frozen boot prints.  After the hike we will go to Cartwrights' Maple Tree Inn.  We'll meet at 8:30 a.m. at Frontier Commons near the intersection of 390 and Jefferson Road and leave for Letchworth via carpool at 8:45. We won't be back until mid to late afternoon, so if you are pressed for time, this isn't a good match.  Bring a light snack as we may not get to the restaurant until around 1:00 or 1:30, and there may be a wait (very possibly outside). Also, bring cash for the meal (Maple Tree doesn't take credit cards) and the carpool drivers.  The carpool cost will be $24/car divided by the number of riders. (e.g., 2 cars/8 riders=48/8=$6.) If you are not interested in pancakes we will ensure a car will be available for a return to Rochester after the hike.  Please verify that your snowshoes fit and are adjusted to your boots so we save time for all at the trail head. Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests", although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink. Equally important, is the proper footwear, gear and clothing for changing conditions. Our hikes are planned to last 2.5-3 hours, but many times unexpected delays can occur, so If you are pressed for time, this hike may not be a good fit. Minors are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All hikers must sign a release form which will be available at the trail head. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
