Sunday Hike - Zoo/River Loop

Hosted By: Genesee Valley Chapter Region: Genesee Valley Region Activity Category: Hiking Trip rating: B Leader: John Andersson Leader Email: jmahi...@gmail.com Leader Phone #: 6072296100 Mileage: 9 Elevation Gain: N/A Nearest Emergency Medical Facility: Stong
Join us for a 9 mile or so loop hike starting at the Zoo, hiking north to cross the Colonel Patrick O'Rourke Bridge, then south on the west side of the Genesee River, cross the fantastic pedestrian bridge back to he cars. Trail is a mix of sidewalk, paved, and rough dirt trails, for a B rating. There are a few hills, but it is mostly level. Meet at 8:45 for a prompt start at 9:00. Call the leader with questions. Notice to the leader via email or phone that you are hiking with him is appreciated but not necessary
Additional Information: The Sunday Hikes are offered as a benefit to current and potential new members of ADK. All our hikes have a steady pace, so are not "nature strolls" but they are also not "endurance tests", although we do at times hike at a brisk pace. Bring plenty to drink and a lunch. Equally important is the proper footwear, gear and clothing for changing conditions. This hike is planned to last 3.5-4.5 hours, but many times unexpected delays can occur, so if you are pressed for time, this hike may not be a good fit. Minors are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All hikers must sign a release form which will be available at the trail head. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
