This hike will be on a section of the main (west to east) Finger Lakes Trail in Allegany & Wyoming Counties. The hike will be approximately 11.8 miles long over rolling hills, with approximately 1,040’ of climbing elevation. Note that the hike will include approximately 4.0 miles of walking on country roads. I’m estimating we’ll be on the trail for approximately 6.5 hrs. (this includes a short lunch break). This is a one-way thru hike, which means we’ll need to spot vehicles. We will meet at 8:30 AM at the hike’s terminus on Wiscoy Road (FLT Map M6/14.1; 42.53026, -78.08888), then shuttle over to the hike’s starting point on Higgins Creek Road (FLT Map M6/2.3; 42.46972, -78.20551). There is parking along the road shoulder at both locations. Dogs are not allowed on this hike. Keep an eye on the forecast, dress appropriately, wear the proper footwear (gaiters will be helpful as the trail could be muddy in sections), and bring raingear just in case. Also bring water, a lunch, and snacks. Hiking poles will also be helpful on the climbs. Ticks are already out, so insect repellent is recommended. New to ADK?
