Tuesday Hike (Hybrid)-Shadow Pines Park
Tuesday Mar 17, 2026 ⋅ 9:45am – 12pm (Eastern Time - New York)
Hosted By: Genesee Valley Chapter Region: Genesee Valley Region Activity Category: Hiking Trip rating: C Leader: John Texter Leader Email: adk.gvc...@gmail.com
Tuesday Hikes are being cross-posted to the MeetUp Group "ADK Genesee Valley Chapter"
Two-hour hybrid hike at Shadow Pines Park split between a flat ~1.3-mile loop in the northern section of the park, followed by a 3-mile second hike at a faster pace in the southern section south of Clark Rd. Meet at 9:45 am in the Shadow Pines parking lot (43.14648, -77.48570) just north of Clark Rd, west of Whalen Rd (600 Whalen Rd, Penfield), by the new construction area, for a 10:00 am hike start. Please dress for the weather, bring some water to drink, and wear boots or trail shoes with good traction. Depending on spring trail conditions, traction devices may be helpful, but the hills are gradual. Hiking poles may be helpful. Contact John Texter at adk.gvc...@gmail.com with any questions. Dogs are not allowed on this hike.
Our hybrid hike consists of 2 hikes that allow us to drop off hikers who prefer a 40-minute to 1-hour easier hike at a slower pace with less elevation change, then continue with the 2nd hike for the rest of the 2 hours at a faster pace with some short climbs. This allows all of us to keep hiking together, when some of our old and new friends need to shorten their hike or some are just starting back hiking after a time off or recovering from surgery.
