| Recipe Name: | Making Jerky at Home Safely |
| Original Source of Recipe (ex.. Backpacker Mag, book name, website, self): | https://www.extension.uidaho.edu/publishing/pdf/PNW/PNW0632.pdf |
| Ingredients: | Go to https://www.extension.uidaho.edu/publishing/pdf/PNW/PNW0632.pdf to read a great pamphlet on how to make jerky safely. |
| Steps to Make the Recipe: | The pamphlet describes 3 techniques for making jerky so that it is shelf stable, i.e. so it doesn't spoil. The one that I like the best and is the most flexible regarding the marinate that can be used is to marinate the jerky, dry it in the dehydrator and then put it in the oven on a cookie sheet at 275 degrees F for 10 minutes. It works!!! |
| Recipe Type | Lightweight |
| Comments: | This is an easy way to kill the pathogens that could cause spoilage in your homemade jerky. This pamphlet is a great resource. |
