After building the data set for Handheld Palm TX using the "Options", "Hand-Held/Satellite User", "Build Data for Palm". After choosing the "Items", "Recorders", "Sites", and "Maps" then "Build Dataset" I get the following error message :-

Unexpected Error In-Palm:ExportPalm, Error Number 11, Division By Zero
Clicking on "OK"
Same error message again
Clicking on "OK"

New pop-up message
Aditmap File Open Not A Valid Aditmap File
Clicking on "OK"

I go back to the first error message and the above cycle of error messages 19 times then all looks OK.

I import the files generated in to the Palm TX and run AditTrec all seams to be working and in place.

Any ideas wants wrong?

I have used the "Change Map" and gone and found the map file *.amf that I wish to use but still get the same error messages cycle, AditMap is closed on Aditsite is running.

In the list of "Maps" I have a very long list of maps with some of the maps being repeated 10 or more times all to the same location, even blank spaces with in the list with no information what so ever, is this the problem if so how do I clear the list?.

Mick

Hi

I could trap the error messages, so that they cease to be a nuisance,
but I would
quite like to get to the bottom of why they are occurring. Can you
send
me a complete copy of your data on CD?

Cheers

Paul

Hi

Your data has just arrived.

The problem occurs when a site has stored a path to a map like

"c:\aditmap\maps\Huntingdonshire.AMF"

but the actual map is now in

"c:\aditmap\maps\AMF Files\Huntingdonshire.AMF"

Because maps are opened in 'binary' mode (for speed) the program
creates a new Huntingdonshire.AMF which
is zero bytes (blank) when it cannot find the original. This blank
file then gives the errors.

If you copy Huntingdonshire.AMF from "c:\aditmap\maps\AMF Files\" to
"c:\aditmap\maps\" it solves the problem for most affected sites.

A clue to any further invalid maps would be their size on disk of 0Kb

Cheers

Hi Paul

Thanks, I now know what is happening and I have re-point the sites to
the new location of the maps (c:\aditmap\maps\amf files) and as you
say this removes the error message.

But I do have another genral question, when building the data set for
the palm it lists the maps listed, look like there are being picked up
from the mapping information used by the sites, can this not be
changed in an update and left blank till a map is requested by using
the "Change Map" button to pick up the map requested/need. As the list
repeats maps as a list of sites with in the same county/area us the
same map, so making the list of maps longer that need (as you can see
from the data set I sent you on the cd)

It's just an idea.

Thanks for your help again
Mick
