Duplicate Sites

Each year I import the records from other recorders in order to
produce an annual report. This generally produces no problems, however
the programme seems to put the annual imports under a new site, even
though the site already exists in the system. This may result from the
recorder changing the title of their site but is not always the
explanation. If I could amalgamate the records from these sites (in
reality the same site) it would be a great convenience as my site list
is becoming enormous. I have tried linking the sites but this does not
eliminate any sites from the list and in at least one case did not
appear to have actually linked the selected sites. Do you have any
advice?

It is difficult to avoid the duplicate site problem, but fairly easy
to resolve it.

Make a backup of your data before you start.

From the main screen choose Sites (Maintain Information About Sites)
On the Maintain Sites screen choose Utilities (menu item)

Select the 'duplicate sites in the left-hand list and the target site
in the right-hand list.
Click [Merge Sites] and make sure what the program says is logical
before click [Yes]
