Hello,
We are looking to translate our website into a few languages in the near future, and would like to ask you for your quotation, please.
Are you interested in bidding for this work?
Kind regards,
Hi!
Seems, that Adith is still alive…
I never got any reply upon my inquiries from them.
It is time for us to take legal steps against them.
Any news from the locals? I remember that you were planning to get some quotations from collectors and solicitors/lawyers…
Cheers,
Alexandra

P Save A Tree.
As you've seen, nothing much has happened with this for a while. So I've
decided to remove myself from the preceedings.
Originally, myself and my wife did work for oDesk 2 years ago. They owe
us about US$120. For a long while I was very annoyed that we'd fallen
for their lies, but after a while it went away and we decided to forget
it and learn from the experience.
Over the next two years, the bad feelings were stirred up from time to
time, usually if we did actaully get a contact from them, or whenever an
update about Adith went around the translator's mailing list. I'd get
annoyed at them again, take some action, and then it would blow over.
In September it happened again, and once again I got fired up about it
all. And for once, so were other people. There seemed to be a big group
of unhappy, unpaid translators who wanted to take action. I took on the
job of coordinating this action, even though I didn't have enough time
or resources to really do so.
Since then there have been a few core members who have helped out, made
suggestions, sent emails, and been involved. The majority of people have
contributed to the discussion at times, but nothing more.
I've tried to get some involvement from other people, but it has mostly
failed. I was happy to be at the center of a group of people who were
wanting to take action against the injustice done to them, but it's
ended up that myself and one or two others are the only ones prepared to
actually do something. There has been the kind suggestion that I'm paid
for the work I've done, but I stopped working in the field of debt
collection some years ago and have no wish to start it up again.
So I'm leaving this mailing list. I've made Eleanor Merrill and
Alexandra Ney as the new list owners as they have been the most regular
contributers here, and have been taking action themselves too. I've
attached the spreadsheet with the initial data collected about amounts
owed as I'll be removing the original from Google.
I still agree that these people don't deserve to be in business, whether
as Adith or as Terra Lingua. If 30 people were all doing this sort of
thing on the net, maybe the message would get out there.
As it is, I wish you all well with whatever you decide to do from now.
Regards,
Mark...
A number of people are.
> Or near bangalore?
One person was working in Bangalore, but only short term, and that was a
while ago.
Best of luck,
Mark...
Mark, once again many thanks for your efforts.
I understand your frustration and feel quite ashamed for not contributing
more. Guess, we are all busy and have our problems, but I also thought that
more people would become active and was partly also waiting for other people
to share their ideas... Sorry for that!
Guys,
Since nobody seems to be staying in India right now, I took the liberty to
contact another collector.
I do not believe that they will try more than what we already did, but at
least they are based in the same country and might have the power to take
the case further.
The problem is that they require an upfront payment for their efforts (USD
50 - 350) + they charge a percentage of the recovered money, in case they
are successful (10 - 12,5 %).
Of course we can jointly agree to get them involved in order to save costs,
but I am not sure how many of you are still interested in proceeding and I
personally would not feel comfortable to collect money from this group to
make a down payment, as it might end up in a lot of contractual paper work
and would take a bit of time, even if we are just talking about tiny sums.
(Sorry, bad experiences)
I do not want to drop out, but I guess, it might be better, if everybody
decides for themselves, if they want to use the following contact:
Nikhil Vats (Attorney)

What are your thoughts?
Cheers,
Alexandra
I got in contact with the Indian police way back in summer. - They did not bother to reply to my mails.
Same happened, when I got in touch with the Chamber of Commerce.
Of course, we can send them our documents once again.
Maybe you are right and it helps, if a group of people complaints...
I remember there was a lady who apparently got her money after contacting the police in Bangalore and who has sent us the direct contact details of the commissioner she apparently talked to some months ago, but there was hardly any reaction from this group.
As always, suggestions on how to proceed are welcome and if someone from India is still following the activities here, please voice out.
Thanks!
Apparently the discussions here once again came to nothing…
I guess there are too many people involved here and all of us somehow wait for the others to take action.
Seems, that no one is actually interested to get their money back…
Sorry, but I think we will still try to figure out what to do next year if the response rate stays close to zero…
Michal already shared his thoughts. How about the rest of you guys? Do you still bear with us and have some comments, feedback, ideas you want to share?
If there will not be any constructive responses until the end of the week (Sunday), we might as well close this group…
Rgds,
Alexandra
