Hi everyone, I´m very sorry for the delay, I was very busy and couldn
´t reply to this group sooner. Anyway...I´m here now. Unfortunately,
my "business relationship" with Adith began in 2008. I looked for some
information against them before accepting any project from them, but
didn´t find anything at that time and for my surprise, when I was
totally involved with them all kind of info arose and for me it was
too late. So, I´ve tried almost everything and still waiting! So, read
below FYI:

Your full name : Alejandra Contreras
Your location (city, country) : Guatemala City
A list of all projects undertaken for Adith that remain unpaid : 17
projects

As you can see, what they owe me is a lot and obviously during those 6
months I believed everything they told me and trusted them, but they
are a complete fraud (so professional, by the way) and the worst part
is that almost 2 years from that...and they keep on scamming other
translators!

Right now I'm collecting information about what is owed to everyone who
wants to be involved in this. Once we have this information data, we
will decide on the approach to take.

You're welcome to open up a discussion on this mailing list. After the
initial interest, it does not seem very lively.

Hello Mark,
please can you confirm, that you added me to the list of people who
are owed by adith? I posted the necessary details, but dont know if it
reached you.
On the other hand, everybody seems to be just waiting for you to do
something. May I be of any help?

Best regards

Dear Mark and all others....

I think we should somehow involve the Adith as well, informing them that now we have decided to take action against them and we should serve a notice to them as well.....

Secondly, I know that Adith is still running its business as usual. We should all at least write to one to ten persons (or agencies) telling them to send this massage to other translator worldwide.....

Even if by doing so we won't get out payment but we will be able to save at least few new translator who become victim to them..

I request you all to please comment on my suggestion....
thanks and take care

Hi Everyone,
I assumed that first Mark will collect all the data and then we will definitely take action against Adith. That should not only be Mark's responsiblity, we all have to work collectively towards it. Nobody till now from Bangalore or nearby place has responded, otherwise it could have been our central point of contact.
Rajeev, yes we should make people aware of it, but at the same time we should not let go our hard earned money like this, no matter how big or small the amount is.
I already had a small conversation with Sharmila on FB which i forwarded earlier. We need to convey this message very strongly to Adith now all the translators, whom they've duped have united and ready to take action against them.

Regards
Preeti

I don't have your details, but just resend them and I'll add them.

Many thanks for the offer. Right now it is just waiting for the details
of the claims and updating the spreadsheet. I'm not sure what might
happen when we start a conversation with Adith, but I will ask for help
when it's needed.

I agree, but I would like to hit them with an amount. A few of us have
tried threatening legal action in our private correspondence with them,
and though some have had success, others have not.

I would prefer that my first contact with them is to say that we have a
group action against them with a total claim of $20,000 (or whatever it
turns out to be). It might make them realise we are serious and that it
is worth or while to employ an India-based lawyer.

That is something that you can help with. Contact some lawyers. Work on
the basis of no-win-no-fee and a claim of $20k. See what responses you get.

I agree. I've written to about 40 already and asked others to make
similar contact. But I'm not going to check up on people if they decide
not to do it. How many have you contacted? Have you had much success? I
believe a few people I contacted joined the group, but I didn't approach
it very scientifically - just searched the net for a few hours and
emailed/messaged everyone who said they'd been cheated by Adith.

Rough plan is:

Collect data (closing date, end of October)
Contact Adith (through every possible source. I intend to blitz every
known email and contact point with the same message)
If payment is not made in a very short period of time (I have a week in
my mind, but it's not fixed), then it goes to a lawyer or debt collector.

As we have 2 weeks to go before I'm proposing to contact Adith, it
probably is time to start seeing what our options are for legal action
and debt collection. In my experience of debt collection in the past,
some agencies will include legal action if initial attempts to collect
the debt fail. This might be of use to us, and it's certainly worth
investigating.

So I would call on out India-based members to look into this on our
behalf. To contact a few reputable lawyers and known debt collecting
agencies and get some ideas of what they can do for us.

We will have to accept that if the action fails, we may incur costs. A
no-win-no-fee contract would be preferable. If a lawyer thinks we have a
good case, this might be something that they would agree to. If we get
rejected by everyone, it might be a sign that we're not likely to win.
Let's not get to concerned about this until we get some more info.

Who can help with this?

Dear Paramjit,

Please note that I will not be filing your claim - you need to do that yourself
(go to www.arhelp.com),
at your earliest convenience, and provide your invoice and PO number(s), date issued and amount.

Kind regards
