Hi
im new on here and new to online recording software. i downloaded audacity to my PC running Windows vista but the program wont open. very frustrating.
I seen a post on here saying you need to download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015.
i went on there but it has this and i dont know which i should download.
File Name
vc_redist.x64.exe File Size 13.9 MB

download windows 7 vista

DOWNLOAD ✑ ✑ ✑ https://cinurl.com/2zRC7i

I followed the instructions.
downloaded audacity and it said completed.
then i downloaded Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 and chose the vc_redist.x86.exe File for Win Vista and that also stated completed.
i then rebooted my pc but im still getting those same error messages above.
so frustrating. any ideas whats the problem ?
thanks

Thanks Steve

forgot to ask,
does this program have vocal effects such as reverb and delay etc as the drop down list
does not allow you to click on them ?
Also how many individual tracks can you record on this program. such as if i have a backing track to sing along to, could i record 20 more tracks along side that backing track ?

I'm pretty sure that you cannot install updates that are in the .cab form. Those are meant for slipstreaming updates onto the install disk. Try getting the updates from the windows update catalog here.

I read through your posts and I can only find ones regarding using a .cab update to integrate the update and not to install it. Do you have a link to a specific post with how to install a .cab on an already running version of windows?

You didn't read carefully. It states "The Package Manager command-line options give the following for the /s switch which can be used online or offline (I'm assuming online means while you are using Vista and offline means a mounted image or while in XP).

In the post right after mine by prathapml, he states he installed hold 'em poker using cab file! That shows it can be done. The syntax in that post. You don't need any other reference, but you'll need package manager.

I want to run my microsoft updates from the command line and this looks like the solution. I am not sure what to do with these. do i need to make 2 batch files or just use the bottom one. I can access an elevated command line etc. also am i right that i copy all the updates in to one folder.

It should absolutely be possible to make the recent versions of the IDE work on Vista, though vista can demonstrate some incredibly perverse behavior due to bugs (or what appear to be bugs) in vista's implementation of UAC (I've definitely seen cant-happen situations happen with UAC file and registry virtualization).

Hi, I have itunes downloaded using windows vista and all my 4S backups are on the computer, now I have bought a 5S and can not access the updates because it says 5S is not compatible with the itunes version on Vista and it will only work with Windows 7 or higher which I do not have. What can I do to sync all my data that I have stored on my computer to update my new 5S. There must be a solution.

Support for Windows Vista (and XP) was dropped when Apple released iTunes 12.2 last year. The latest (and almost certainly last) version to support Vista is 12.1.3.6 - this is an out-of-sequence release from September 2015 that adds support for iOS 9 devices but lacks Apple Music and other features added in iTunes 12.2 and 12.3. Links to the installers:

The last of these is actually (like all "64-bit" editions of iTunes prior to 12.1.2) the 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer - this should be used if you get a warning message about video card incompatibility and may also address issues with poor audio playback, integration with 3rd party software, and general stability of iTunes.

Note also that no version of iTunes since 11.1.5 has been fully compatible with Vista; all subsequent versions consistently generate Data Execution Prevention errors on exit. Since Vista is just a little more than a year away from complete withdrawal of support by Microsoft, you really should be thinking about replacing your computer or updating it to a more recent edition of Windows. If you want to make use of Apple Music you will have to upgrade to Windows 7 or later.

I bought this adapter for my old Desktop PC with Windows Vista and I coudn't find a driver that works. Please could you help me? When I install the last driver from the TP Link web page it freeze at 90%.

@lcrusoe I found a workaround for this. My laptop is running windows Vista and I had the same issue. What you need to do is right click on the setup.exe and hit properties. Then, you need to go to the compatibility tab. Then, "enable compatibility mode", and select "windows XP SP2", and also "run as administrator". Then, it should be able to install as normal. Hope this helps!

Firstly the default position of the start button is so Inconvenient and if its center aligned it doesn't even remain in the same place. Windows 11 is basically more of a design update to Windows 10. No new or rather user friendly or productive features except for running android apps are present.

Start menu is terrible! It has lost its classic touch. Only pinned apps visible, you need to click a button separately to view all apps. Start menu can't be resized, full screen start absent, no live tiles (biggest let down). The WiFi, Sound and Bluetooth bar adds to the inconvenience. Why open all of them if you just want to change the settings of 1. One drive is also not stable.

Settings look is OK. Not very impressive. App logos OK. The earlier ones were much better. The Chat, Switch Desktop functions are pinned to the taskbar all the time and cannot remove them. Very annoying. Preview peek desktop on hovering cursor is also missing. I personally liked the feature.

Long saying short - I would prefer to use Windows 10 rather than Windows 11 or would even like Windows 7 better than Windows 11. Clearly Windows 11 is just a design update of Windows 10 other than the Android apps. Might as well add the feature to Windows 10!

Clearly an unplanned, inconvenient, hard user interfaced and unhelpful operating system. Currently what I feel is that looking at the scenario now I am thinking that Windows 11 will be a fail. No better than Vista. Doesn't provide with any useful features.

Some of the things you point out are configurable in the settings already, so I'd encourage you to explore those in more depth as you may be happier with the result (app alignment, pinned items like Chat, etc.). I feel the most constructive take-away from your post is a desire for more configurability, and that is something I'm confident everyone will be able to agree with and would be something the designers would be willing to consider :)

@davidpetree2 why respond lkike that. windows 11 is greta its reliable and works well but there is alot of stupid things like no third party widgets, instead you get a few microsft options that most people i know wouldnt use. i want widgets, so im gona let people know this. like skype not working on 11 on desktop and laptop for a day. or say not being able to drag start menu icons over too desktop. its all about moaning so changes might happen. but apart from windows 8 which took me a month t0 use ive always been a windows fan, i just dont think microsft are. look how live tiles was abandoned years ago and left to users to put up with and i love live tiles.

@Arin_Swadi Or you can just buy a M1 Macbook Pro like I did and give up on Windows all together. I took a chance and bought an M1 at Costco to try it out and man what a great decision! The OS feels like it's super solid built by the highest level of detail and craftsmanship and the processor is just a monster! It makes my Thinkpad look stupid b/c the M1 gets 2 days of battery life without stepping down performance at all and runs as cool as a seal in the artic. It's also like having a dedicated gaming GPU in your laptop without any of the battery drain or heat.

It took a while to get used to some of the OS X stuff like the way it handles cut and paste but it was worth it. No crashing, apps run faster than ever, laptop runs cool and I never carry around my power plug because I never need to charge it! My Thinkpad gets 3 hours on a good day with the wind blowing in the right direction and as soon as I start doing anything intense, that battery life goes down to 1.5 hours.
