if you open the netflix app that is installed on the tv, all seems well up until the point you actually try to play a piece of media. Choose the wrong movie or show, and your tv will immediate lose all picture, and picture will not return until you either unplug the tv for a few minutes, or enter the button command "home button x5, up button, rewind x2, fast forward x2" and power back on. Choose the right film or show, and you will recieve 15 or so minutes of uninterrupted play, followed by the abrupt loss of image altogether once again.

That all is to say, the netflix app behaves differently depending on the media you select, but using it unwaveringly results in the loss of image output from your tv (and its always before you can finish your show).

moving on... we tried problem solving. Hooked our Xbox series s up to the device, and tried to run the netflix app on it instead. No luck. Immediate loss of image output by the tv, before the xbox can even fully boot up the app.

before you suggest - we have already checked for updates to both the netflix app and the tv itself. Both are up to date. We have already reset the tv (many times) and the netflix app itself, no luck.

other streaming apps that we have tried (the tubi app) works fine and no issue was experienced after 10 consecutive hours of play. It is only netflix, and it is any form of netflix that you try, be it rokus netflix or xbox's netflix. Doing other things on the xbox does not produce the issue. It is only when you try to load up netflix that the tv immediately loses picture (audio persists in all cases)

i wish you the best of luck in solving this issue, my best guess is that it is foulplay from netflix. Perhaps netflix is trying to deter consumers from roku devices, for a competitor tv company maybe. Orrrr perhaps theres no drama and your devices are just in need of some sort of update regarding Netflix software specifically. I dont understand why this issue would extend to netflix ran through external devices via the hdmi channels though.

I just ran a test on my MacBook and it streams fine here. I run a Nokia gateway here and it is on the most recent firmware available. Maybe it has something to do with the gateway you have or there is something going on with the network in that location. That might need a bit more troubleshooting there. Not sure what you are streaming to maybe it is worth trying another client.

If your streaming to the TV was not working you could check to see if the application on the TV is in need of an update. It might be software on the TV that is resulting in the problem. I have seen times when I had to update the Netflix application so it would work. Clearing the cache for the application might help. It has been some time since I had to play that game with it. I have seen times when one of my devices needed an update and that impacted services working until I did the update. I know I have seen such issues on the Windows clients here. I have seen less with the Apple devices and/or my Linux clients. Between the clients and the Playstation, Xbox, WiiU, and Switch and the AV receiver I stay busy at times keeping all the tech here working as no one else here has much of a clue.

Good point. Yesterday I checked for updates on the Netflix app as well as the Vizio. They were both current. Just to be safe I deleted the Netflix app and reinstalled it. Also Netflix provided a link so that I could clear the cache. All to no avail.

Does your TV have multiple HDMI inputs? If so you could connect a FireStick and stream to the TV with a FireStick and have Netflix delivery direct to the Visio that way. It seems like a problem with the Visio TV or the application on the TV.

If you can stream to the TV from your client that might do the trick. Our TV is not that smart so I have to deliver content via the Pioneer Elite AV receiver. That actually works quite well for us. I have been told so many times to just get a smart TV. Well, the Sony TV still works and does 1080p and the lamp is cheap to replace so until it dies it lives on in our house. I added a FireStick to our solution as I find the Xbox interface to be a bother. The FireStick works great and was super easy to get connected. It was fast and just super easy to get connected. Much more so than some of the other things.

So once you get the stream launched on the phone then when you connect from the hotspot back to the gateway for content delivery through the gateway the session will continue and you can then stream the video?

So the TV with the Netflix app cannot connect to the server and just presents that screen on the TV but if you feed the service through the hotspot, get the server connection made then switch the content delivery back sourced across the gateway the content stream will continue. This is not just a brief run of cached information? The service will continue to stream. Very odd the application cannot make a connection to the server from the app on the TV. I still tend to believe the Netflix application is a HTML based communication on 433 secure HTTP. Maybe it has something to do with credentials delivery.

Between chats I again pulled up Safari and went to Netflix and then launched Troll and it pops and runs no problem. That is HTTPS. I would think they would be doing the same with the Netflix app as it would not make much sense to do otherwise. More development effort.

So it makes me more intent on thinking it is maybe with the authentication services given it has to be a secured session for the user. Once the session is established the service transition does not seem to be a problem. It is still the same client source just some routing changes more than likely. Well, at least you have a bit of a workaround until it can be figured out.

Well, ok. 1.00.16 I think that might be the most recent one but when I try to navigate to the wireless support info it fails. There seems to be a problem with the server or the linkage to the server. Very odd that it can confirm the servers but that probably does not have an identical step like the user authentication process.

The core gameplay of Hades is one of the best examples of one more run" in modern times. It never gets old as you slowly progress through the levels, working your way further into the game, defeating new bosses, meeting more NPCs, getting permanent upgrades, and learning more about the world and narrative as you understand the ins and outs of survival in the dangerous levels.

When it comes to roguelikes, you can have the most varied enemies, bosses, and the best visuals, but what sets Hades apart from the rest of the genre even more, is its slick fast-paced gameplay while dungeon crawling. Weapons, upgrades, strategizing on the go for how to build your character for that run, and more all play a part in how far you will reach.

I have zero complaints with the actual game on PC and modern consoles, and basically consider it perfect. It even has an accessibility mode that gives you a slight health boost on each death to make your progression easier through multiple runs. But how does it feel and look on mobile? I know the team has mentioned things like 60fps gameplay, customizable controls, controller support, and an uncompromised experience, but I needed to see it for myself.

I knew Hades would be great with a controller, but I specifically focused on playing it with touch controls. As with many games I cover, I found myself enjoying it with touch on the iPhone, but preferring a physical controller wirelessly on iPad. I used my Xbox Series X wireless controller and the 8BitDo I use to test and both worked perfectly. The game displays Xbox button prompts for both. With touch controls, I was surprised at how good they felt on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Plus. I recommend resizing the interaction button though because the default is a bit too small.

Hades does have cloud saves on Netflix and I tested this over 12 times back and forth while playing Hades on my iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPad Pro. I only had one issue where there was a save conflict popup that got resolved by selecting the correct data. The syncing worked flawlessly outside that. I am disappointed to not be able to bring my Steam and Switch saves over since I play with syncing on both of those. Hopefully this can be considered for the future.

When it comes to Hades on PS5 and Xbox Series X, it has 4K 60fps support and a decent DualSense implementation. On Xbox it supported Quick Resume and had save syncing with the Windows version (non Steam) making it a good option for those who use that store. I ended up playing a lot more Hades on Xbox Series X with Quick Resume support though. None of them having cross save with Switch or Steam was disappointing.

As with other Netflix or Apple Arcade game reviews, the big caveat to the recommendation is that you need an active subscription to play the game in question. Just like with the GTA Trilogy, Hades is a killer app for Netflix, and one that is likely going to push people to subscribe to the service.

Netflix doesn't work - error "NW-2-5" (network issues) - started about four or five days ago.
When the TV's DNS is manually set to 8.8.8.8 Netflix works, set back to 192.168.20.254 (pihole) it stops.
BUT Netflix works on ALL other devices that go through the Pihole...?? PC, phones, Xbox... they all work, except the TV.

OK here's something weird. To try and narrow down the issue a little I went to the blocklists page in the console and unchecked ALL the lists, planning to enable them one-by-one to see which one is doing it.

I am having the same exact issue but not only with Netflix but Disney Plus and Hulu. Main difference is every Netflix app on my network will not launch unless pointed to a outside DNS server. 4 Rokus, PS4, TVs and Bluray players. Doesn't matter if Pihole is enabled or not. I have also disabled all block lists just like you but still won't launch. Only way around it for me so far is with Cascading Routers. Have the pihole on the forward facing router and all devices on the back router. Set the back router DNS server to the IP of the forward router.
