I switched from android to iphone using move to ios. Though it says it was successful, many message threads did not transfer over. In addition, several messages on iPhone won't download (it'll list the message, but it shows the ellipsis (the 3 dots that appear when someone is typing), and the message won't download). Other messages appear in my list of messages, but when I open it, it simply shows a list with days, dates, and times, but no actual messages.
Once I complete the transfer, when I sign into iCloud again, is backup data automatically downloaded onto iPhone? I ask this because I have been using the iPhone...I'm concerned that if my transfer is successful this time, will the iCloud then download and override a (hopefully) successful transfer of data, restoring the corrupted messages from the last icloud backup?
Hi, if you're like me and bought your not-so-tech-saavy parent an iPhone and want to transfer their data from their Android phone to their shiny new iPhone. Oh, look! Apple has a handy app to do that. BUT IT NEVER SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES THE TRANSFER.
Thanks your guide is very helpful and helped me get through a lot of unexplained error messages, but now I've reached the most frustrating one of all. Twice now I've done the process all the way through, keeping the iPhone off standby by tapping the screen every 2 minutes for an hour and thirty minutes but when I get to Time remaining: 1 minute the progress bar freezes and I get a Transfer Error on my Android device. I have no idea what else to do, this whole process is extremely frustrating and I hope they fix it soon.
I would always get to the transfer part, see an estimate, but it would always fail. Only after I did the above did it actually prompt me to connect to the iOS network. Still don't know if the transfer will succeed though, as I'm currently doing the transfer while writing this.
Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. We can see you've been using Move from Android to iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Although you've been able to complete the transfer, you'd like to leave feedback for the process.
Thanks a ton for sharing this. I have been banging my head trying to transfer data from my Samsung Note 9 for days to get text messages over. It is funny how this is the only helpful resource I've found on this despite the app having what appear to be hundreds of one star reviews saying it doesn't work on the Google play store over the last few weeks.
Most pathetic and the first experience on iOS! I am trying to complete my data transfer from Android to iPhone since 3 days now. This app is really frustrating. My temporary wifi (iOS XXXXX) connection gets broken so often and for petty reasons. Whenever iphone display turning off every 15 seconds or for some other reason the iPhone (host) just stops being a wifi hotspot, the connection breaks and throws an error. Much disappointing after spending 3 days doing this with no result. I unselected my messages and photos from being transferred and the transfer ended pretty much quickly with my apps being transferred. Partly my photos and text messages also did transfer but it there's no saying which ones weren't transferred. So effectively all my data couldn't be transferred to iPhone.
Hi All. Despite trying all the above options was never able to click on the item temporary wifi network icon, although my android phone was showing the iPhone id in the wifi network to which it was connected to! At least 6 failed to complete transfer attempts . Tried to leave out certain transfer options but it seemed to make no difference. Usually failed in the last 10 minutes of the transfer process. Eventually it did complete the process and I know of no reason why it did eventually complete .
Spoke to Apple help who said that the problem is you have 2 completely different phone systems so making them talk to one another is extremely difficult and in their research 50% of users fail to be successful. They ,Apple, had no input in the production of the Move to IOS app so can only help to get round the problem by helping customers to do a manual transfer if all else fails.
In my case, I have a Pixel 3a circa 2019, so used Move to IOS v3.1.1 from early 2020. There are online sites that host older versions of apps, you may have to override chrome telling you it can't validate the developer. I was getting rid of the phone so wasn't concerned about that.
I am looking for guidance on how to transfer text messages from iPhone to Android. I have tried a few methods but haven't been successful. I have important messages that I need to keep in my new device, and I don't want to lose them in the process.
Is there a way to transfer my messages without losing any data or formatting? I'm also looking for suggestions on which tools or software to use. I have very little technical knowledge, so I would appreciate easy-to-follow steps or instructions. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Use a Transfer App: There are apps designed specifically for this task. 'Move to iOS' app by Apple is meant to do the opposite of what you need, but there's 'iSMS2droid' which can help you move your texts from iPhone to Android. You'll need to backup your iPhone first, then convert the SMS database and transfer it to your Android.
Since you prefer easy-to-follow steps, third-party software with good customer support might be your best bet. They often have visual guides and simple interfaces. However, make sure to check the reviews and credibility of the software before you dive in.
As far as i know, using iSMS2droid to transfer text messages betwwen iPhone and Android, some messages may be lost or not transferred properly. And its setup process can be a bit complicated for non-tech-savvy individuals.I need more professional and stable data transfer software.
I transferred from a Samsung S21+ to a new S24+ no issue using Smart Switch. The S24+ was defective or riddled with overlapping software, whatever. I had to transfer to an iPhone12 and used the transfer to IOS, no issue. All apps, messages, photos, calendar, all the essentials came over, except my music. I downloaded Audify music player on both and was able to transfer all the music on my samsung to the iphone. Now I have a replacement S24 Ultra and Smart Switch, which seems to be pretty much the same thing as Switch to Android did not move my apps, messages, or all of my contacts, (only some of my contacts). I actually used both Smart Switch and Switch to Android and got the same result. iPhone doesn't like to share. :/ If someone figures out a way to move messages, please let me know too!

My friend (iPhone 13 I guess) and I (Pixel 7) want to share photos and videos we took with each other. We use some messaging app which allows it. But it's a hassle selecting and transferring.I'd like not to use another service if I don't have to.
I wondered if there's a way to directly transfer images and video.I tried it with cable with my work iphone SE. At first Android recognized it as storage. But then all data transfer options are gone and it can only be charged.
We just made the move from iPhone to FairPhone 4.
Apple becoming more and more repair unfriendly.
What is the best procedure to move from iPhone to FairPhone 4.
To make the transition as smooth as possible.
Hope to be able to keep using most apps and copy their data.
Will it be a process of one app at the time and using their individual backup strategies?
Thanks

I suppose the features discussed in that article are about recent Android versions. The Fairphone still runs Android 11. I recently also transferred an iPhone to a Pixel. The initial boot up menu made it very easy to transfer apps, WiFi, messages and indeed the calendar, contacts and pictures.
Thank you for the responses. The way it is described in the FP4 article and on the google switch pages do make it sound more comprehensive and no less simple. Google clearly know it is a stumbling block for potential new recruits.
Thanks for all the comments on this thread. To hopefully bring a happy conclusion to it, I updated my FP4 to Android 12 yesterday when it became available and performed a factory reset which then enabled me to use the transfer Android-iphone transfer process.
Have you ever dealt with the task of transferring data from one device to another? It could be quite challenging, even when you think about it. You wouldn't want to experience any potential data loss of your important data, contacts, photos and videos and important applications, so you have to make sure that everything will go as expected.
When considering changing the device, you must have a plan in your head before you jump to that difficult task. As it turns out the migration process can actually be quite smooth and painless, as long as you have a plan and follow a little preparation.
