I have a simple question that I can't find the answer to in the FAQ's
and the postings here.

Why do you insist on using a database to store the location updates
for all laptops? Having such a database only means that eventually
somebody will crack it and be able to track the location of every
single user. The fact that this database is stored in a distributed
open-source manner instead of in a central proprietary location
doesn't change the fact that the database still exists.

Why not just get rid of the database all together. Let every user of
the Adeona client also be responsible to install a software on a
private secure website that stores the location updates of this and
only this laptop. When the laptop is stolen, the user can log in to
the private secure website to retrieve the locations of this laptop.

From a privacy perspective this is the ideal solution, since there
simply doesn't exist any database for all Adeona clients, at most a
hacker who cracks the private website of a user will only get the
locations of one single laptop.

I think I would be happy enough to have adeona e-mail its location
information (and a snapshot from the webcam) to an e-mail address.
Even a gmail address purposely set up to track my laptop.

Then if the laptop is missing, I can just login to the e-mail account
and retrieve information.

Replacing the database stuff with a simple e-mail process should be
trivial, right?
