'Star of Red Sparkles' is an incredibly floriferous cultivar. It frequenly produces flowers with six instead of the usual five petals. Last week it produced a fully double one. And no, it was not infected with mealy bugs !

here is a close up of the stigma. The anthers were rather open and any pollen was lost
note that the floral tube is around twice the usual diameter and that there are two distinct stigmas. The central upright is just the remains of one of the anthers. Here is a close up
I have put pollen of 'Doxon' onto both of the stigmas - let's hope for the best !
