This was looking very good yesterday.  The flower is velvety and has a sparkling texture which is almost impossible to catch in a photograph

the very dark, velvet looking flowers can only be obtained by using a dark form of Adenium swazicum.  Dr. Dimmitt sent me some seeds of his cross of the very dark A. swazicum 'Boyce Thompson' crossed with another purple A. swazicum  and my seedling #6 of this cross has the colouring of 'Boyce Thompson'

this has proved to be a fantastic pollen parent for producing rich dark colours when crossed with red or purple cultivars.  Unlike some members who think The Royal Horticultural Society's ,Sander's List of Orchid Hybrids is not as accurate as  I know it to be, my stud book is open to all.
