I'll be back to managing the Adelaide.rb's starting with May's meeting (since April looks well organised, assuming people even want me back)

Until then, shameless plug for my election campaign which has dragged my away from the ruby community for the last few months:

Vote for me by voting 1 in H (White Ballot Paper) and check out my policies and like me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/mnoack.libdem

Do we have a meetup for May?

Re: Do we have a meeting in May?
--------------------------------------------------------------

I saw Chris had April's meeting with 20 RSVP's and figured he had nailed running these things and could continue as our new glorious leader.

All hail the chosen one:

Chris, everyone-else, what are we doing? Anyone fresh want to run it?

If not I'll take over BUT:

One of the ideas I had was for the presenters (experts) to get some recognition for their talk via LinkedIn endorsements/recommendations from those who watched the talks.

e.g. Kieran did a talk about Mongoid, so probably he knows a fair bit about "Ruby", "MongoDB" and "Mongoid" so 10+ people should have endorsed him for those skills that night.

Here's some talks I've done and I bet most of you have seen quite a few of them. Maybe now is the time to say thanks and connect/endorse me at http://lnkd.in/Mc7Nfz

Only endorse me for things you can honestly say I know because you learned from my talks, which include:

2009: Adelaide.rb
* Apr: Gem dependencies
* Aug: Haml
* Sep: Login with OpenID, OAuth and Facebook
2011: Adelaide.rb returns
Oct: Adelaide Uni - Intro to Rails
Nov: Continuous Integration with Jenkins
2012:
* Mar: Bye Bye Bundle Exec
* Apr: MySQL Replication & Backups
* Jun: Bundler
* Dec: Making Gems
2013:
* Mar: Radiant CMS
* Sep: Backbone.js
* Dec: Jenkins and Travis CI

You could even "Recommend" me as the co-organiser of Adelaide.rb

I did the same for Chris T and thanked him for the VCR gem talk he did for us that we now use at work (see below)

I'm happy we discuss the linkedin idea during a meetup but making it a requirement of participants feels a bit forced to me.

The lighter approach would be to say that it's fine for speakers to give a quick plug for recommendations/endorsements if they would like to as part of their talk.

Im not sure adding 'must give linkedin recommendation' as a validation against attending Adelaide.rb makes for great UX ;)
