Dear colleagues,
Let me bring your attention to the recent paper:
Asadova N. et al. T-matrix representation of optical
scattering response: Suggestion for a data format, J.
Quant. Spectrosc. Radiat. Transfer 333
109310
(2025).
This is the result of a large collaboration dedicated to the development of the T-matrix data format, which is already supported by many codes (for output) as well as several scripts for post processing. It should greatly improve the reusability of T-matrices between different research groups; a database of T-matrices is currently being developed.
If you're wondering why that is relevant to ADDA, the answer is simple - it is one of the softwares supporting the data format. More specifically, the paper also describes addatmatrix ( https://gitlab.com/k.czajkowski/addatmatrix/ ) - a Python wrapper for ADDA developed by Krzysztof Czajkowski. You can already use it to calculate T-matrix of arbitrary-shaped particle. Moreover, addatmatrix automatically downloads and compiles the latest version of ADDA.
We plan to further improve addatmatrix and provide more details (and maybe a tutorial) at the upcoming Bremew workshop - https://scattport.org/index.php/conferences-menu/775-bremen-workshop-on-light-scattering-2025 . Meanwhile, if you have any comments/suggestions, please share them here or at the addatmatrix page.
Maxim.
