Dear ADDA users,

I am glad to announce that new version of ADDA (1.0) has been released. I feel that ADDA has matured enough for a major
increment of its version, because
1) its transition into an open-source international project was finalized (with official homepage at
http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/ );
2) the number of contributors is slowly increasing.

Below the most important changes in this release are summarized. For a more detailed list please see
http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/wiki/ReleaseNotes .

* Fabio Della Sala and Stefania D'Agostino contributed code to calculate near-field with ADDA (misc/near_field). Now it
is included in the main package.
* "Integration of Green's tensor" formulation of the DDA was implemented based on the code contributed by Patrick
Chaumet and Adel Rahmani.
* New predefined shapes: bisphere, bicoated, and biellipsoid.
* New command line option '-scat_matr {muel|ampl|both|none}' to specify which scattering matrix (amplitude and/or
Mueller) need to be stored to file.
* Calculation of Green's tensor was accelerated by doing all 6 components at once.
* The code was refactored. Makefiles were significantly improved.
* Homepage at Google Code was completely rewritten.
* Documentation was significantly reworked. Many sections of the manual, not directly related to performing light
scattering simulations were moved to wiki pages. A number of other wiki pages were added. doc/faq was moved to a wiki
page FAQ.
* Several bugs in granule generator were fixed.
* Fixed bug in calculation of radiative forces.
* Several other minor bugs were fixed.

You are advised to upgrade to a new version, which can be downloaded (both main package and, if needed, executable for
32-bit Windows) from: http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/downloads/

I would like also to use this possibility to bring your attention to two community-related features of ADDA:
1) the discussion group - http://groups.google.com/group/adda-discuss - has become a nice forum for discussions
concerning ADDA and DDA simulations in general, comprising already 20 participants. So, if you have any questions,
direct them to adda-d...@googlegroups.com . And please also consider joining this group and participating in existing
discussions or those newly created by other users.
2) issue tracker - http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/issues . You are encouraged both to submit new issues (bug reports or
enhancement suggestions) and to comment existing ones.

Best regards,
Maxim Yurkin.
