Dear all
I’m pleased to share a new practical guide I’ve published through Learning for Sustainability on developing and using indicators in place-based and multi-actor settings:
The guide is written for practitioners, evaluators, programme managers and policy staff working in contexts where indicators need to support not only reporting, but also shared understanding, reflection and adaptive decision-making.
It sets out a six-step process for developing and using indicators, from clarifying purpose and involving the right people through to selecting a small set of useful indicators and using them to support monitoring, evaluation and learning. It also covers rubrics and structured judgement, working across knowledge systems, and the real-world constraints that often shape indicator work.
The guide can be downloaded from the page above. I’d welcome any comments or reflections from others working with indicators in adaptive development, climate adaptation, environmental management or related fields.
Kind regards
Will
