Ten years ago, precisely on this date, USAID formally introduced the
Local Systems Framework, our first Agency definition of sustainability and a significant step in incorporating systems thinking into international development. Through the decade since, the core principles and concepts of the LSF have become much more recognizable aspects of Agency policy and the work of USAID and its partners. It's a good moment to celebrate the variety of ways in which ideas of emergence, co-production, interconnection, and tipping points have informed our work.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to contribute to the forthcoming
Local Systems Position Paper. As it is a decade on, we are re-energizing the discussion on local systems to highlight what we've learned and ways to go further. Please follow the link if you'd like to contribute your thoughts and ideas!
