YCompassion Leadership Programme

Dear adaptive development community,
I wanted to share something that may be of interest to people in this community.
For those navigating the human side of development - leading through uncertainty, working across relationships and power, and responding when there isn’t a straightforward answer - the YCompassion Leadership Programme offers a dedicated space to reflect on these challenges with peers and explore how compassion can shape the way we respond.
Less of a “course” and more of a community of practice, the programme was developed by my colleague Signe Jung Sorensen, who I’ve been supporting as an advisor to YCompassion (she's copied in this email).
The third cohort runs from September to December 2026, and two spots remain open. It includes:
- 6 modules
- 12 practical tools and frameworks
- 3 compassion-in-action Leadership Labs
- 1 real-world compassion project outline, bespoke to your work
There are also fully funded scholarships available for those without access to professional development budgets.
I’ve attached the programme overview for anyone curious to learn more. Signe has also recently shared three lessons from the first two cohorts, which gives a flavour of some of the thinking and learning emerging from the programme.

Besa Global’s Social Norms Accelerator deadline is next week: Wednesday, September 9.
The Accelerator is a 9 month hybrid learning opportunity for small teams, put forward by their organization, to gain key social norms capacity with the intention of bring that capacity home to their organisation – be it a government department, ngo or Anti-corruption Commissions. We’ve designed it to fill the implementation gap that exists – whereby experienced professionals recognize the influence of norms, but do not have the competencies to tackle them constructively as part of a multi-faceted response.
Facilitated by Cheyanne Scharbatke-Church and Diana Chigas from Besa Global’s Corruption, Justice & Legitimacy Program, The Accelerator is a carefully conceptualized program for experienced individuals to learn, apply and adapt social norms into their ‘accountable governance’ work. The course will integrate theory of change thinking grounded in an adaptive management approach to programming. The small cohort will be drawn from government, civil society or multi-lateral institutions. If your organisation or your partners work at the policy or program level on issues related to transparency, accountability, integrity, ethics, public service reform/professionalization or anti-corruption – what we are calling accountable governance - and feels that engaging in the informal rules that guide behavior would enhance the effectiveness of their work, then the Accelerator might be right for you.
While I’ve attached the Info Guide, I’ll also note we’ve run a couple of very well attended Information sessions this summer – here is an edited summary video in case you or your partners are interested in learning more. We’ve had a tremendous amount of interest in the program, but are also aware that are networks are not truly global.
