ATLANTA – Members of the public who are unable to attend the City of Atlanta’s Alcohol Technical Advisory Group (ATAG) II public hearing on Monday, July 30 will still have the opportunity to participate online via the video streaming website USTREAM.
From 6.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m., those unable to travel to the Cathedral of Christ the King in Buckhead may offer public comment regarding beer/wine/liquor licensing and enforcement issues by navigating to the Atlanta City Council’s USTREAM channel at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/atlanta-city-council.
To the right of the video feed, viewers will find the social stream. Here they may “check-in & chat” using their USTREAM, Facebook, or Twitter accounts to ask ATAG II members questions and comment on the proceedings.
Board members will respond to both questions being asked by those in attendance and those participating online.
Those participating online should use the hashtag #ATAGII.
The hearing is an important opportunity for the public to share its concerns with the ATAG II Board.
The Board is composed of 17 members appointed by the Mayor, City Council and community and business groups. They have been tasked with examining and recommending changes to the City of Atlanta’s Alcohol Code, which deals with the licensing of establishments that sell liquor, beer, and wine, as well as the enforcement of such laws. As part of their review, ATAG II is required to conduct at least one public hearing in each quadrant of the City. The Board is expected to make final recommendations to the City Council by December 2012.
The City of Atlanta Alcohol Technical Advisory Group (ATAG) II was established through legislation introduced by Post 1 At-Large Councilmember Michael Julian Bond and passed unanimously by the City Council.
