You can start the Volcano Manor quest pretty early if you use one of the two ways of getting to the area before you explore as far as Mt. Gelmir. It's not a particularly long quest but you might find it challenging at lower levels, especially as there's a boss you'll need to deal with right at the end. Luckily, you're rewarded with new weapons and armor sets for your troubles, as well as a couple of separate NPC quests.

Figuring out how to get there isn't clear-cut either. It's located in one of the more difficult regions to navigate, thanks to the lay of the land. Luckily, you can get there early without the need to walk up to the front door and I'll go through these below. Here's how to complete the Elden Ring Volcano Manor questline and how to get there.

The easiest way to get to Volcano Manor, especially if you're still some away from unlocking the Mt. Gelmir region, is to get an invitation from Rya. You can find this NPC in Liurnia of the Lakes, at the stone structure, to the northwest of the Laskyar Ruins Site of Grace or directly east of the Scenic Isle.

With that done, you'll find Rya again at Altus Plateau. If you've never been there before and you use the Dectus Medallion to reach it, she'll be at the top of the lift. If you've ventured to the area before you first speak to Rya, or you bypassed the lift, she's at the Lux Ruins in Altus Plateau. Wherever you find her, speak to her, take her hand, and she'll teleport you to Volcano Manor.

Another option is via the Abductor Virgin enemy in the depths of the Raya Lucaria Academy, which you can find by taking the water-wheel lift to the very bottom. You need to let it kill you with its grab attack. Doing so will teleport you to an area below Volcano Manor, though you'll need to defeat the Abductor Virgins boss here to proceed.

If you were teleported to Volcano Manor by Rya, speak to the NPC sitting on a chair straight ahead of you. This is Tanith and she'll ask you to join Volcano Manor. Accept the offer and she'll hand over the Drawing Room Key. Next, turn around and head down the hallway on your immediate left and use the key on one of the last two doors on the left to access the room.

You'll find a letter on the table instructing you to kill Old Knight Istvan, an NPC in Limgrave. Luckily, his summon sign is now marked on your map so travel to the Warmaster's Shack Site of Grace and head north.

Defeating Istvan rewards you with the Scaled armor set. Head back to Volcano Manor and speak to Tanith again and she'll hand over the Magma Shot sorcery. You can now return to the room you unlocked to pick up the next letter.

Note: It's also at this point that you can talk to Bernahl in the Drawing Room to receive a letter that starts you on his quest, and Patches also hands over a letter if you speak to him in the entrance hall.

Now you need to head to Altus Plateau and defeat Rileigh the Idle, right on the western edge of the area. The quickest way to reach his summon sign is via the Old Altus Tunnel Site of Grace. Once you exit the tunnel from the lift, head northeast. You get the Crepus' Vial talisman for defeating him and Tanith will hand over the Serpentbone Blade when you return to the manor.

Juno Hoslow's summon sign is found in the Mountaintops of the Giants region, southwest of Castle Sol and right next to the Lofty Shack. Defeating him gives you the Hoslow's Oath gesture, his armor set and weapon. Tanith will reward you with the Taker's Cameo talisman for completing this step.

You can now speak to Tanith to have her teleport you to the area just outside of the Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy boss door. Once you've defeated this boss, you're rewarded with Rykard's Great Rune and Remembrance of the Blasphemous, which grants you the Blasphemous Blade when taken to Enia in Roundtable Hold.

Once Rykard has been defeated, you can speak to Lady Tanith at her usual spot inside Volcano Manor. Exhaust her dialogue here, then reload the area and she'll move to Rykard's boss room. This next part is totally optional and, as far as I'm aware, Tanith doesn't move from her final spot for the rest of the game.

You can exhaust her dialogue again and leave her to continue her, err, meal, or you can kill her to receive the Consort armor set. Just be aware that doing so triggers her Crucible Knight bodyguard to appear and attack you. Defeating him rewards you with the Aspect of the Crucible: Breath incantation. You monster.

As well revealing a lot of fascinating lore, it's also stuffed with NPC quests and side missions, rare loot, and a rather weird ending should you decide to eventually take on Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.

However, it's very easy to miss certain quest steps or complete things out of order and lock yourself out of seeing everything in one playthrough. So we will walk you through it all in our Volcano Manor questline guide.

You can access and defeat Rykard without doing any of Volcano Manor's quests, though it comes with a few consequences. After you defeat Rykard - regardless of whether you join the Manor - everyone in the Manor leaves. That means you'll miss Rya's quest and all the loot gained from Tanith's contracts.

If you speak with Patches at Scenic Isle, he should tell you about a secret route in the basement of Raya Lucaria. You'll want to head to the academy and find the huge, towering water wheel elevator here. Hop on it to reach the lower level and let the Virgin Abductor here - the iron-maiden like monster - draw you in.

If you took the tunnels instead and do not have a full Dectus Medallion, she should be near the Erdtree Gazing Hill Site of Grace instead. She didn't show up for us there, however, so we had to complete the Dectus Medallion and take the lift.

Tanith, the lady of the manor, will assign you tasks periodically, and give you the Drawing-Room Key so that you can access more of the manor. These contracts are all assassination missions, where you grab and read a letter, travel to the spot marked on the map, and invade an NPCs world to fight them.

Inquisitor Ghiza will appear and fight you. Defeat them, and then make your way to the Drawing Room finally. Here, you'll find Rya, Knight Bernahl (the Warmaster from Stormhill), and Diallos if you have made some quest progress with him. On the table, there'll be a Recusant Finger and a letter detailing your first contract for Volcano Manor: Old Knight Istvan.

Up next, you'll want to pick up your final contract for Volcano Manor from the Drawing Room again. It'll be another letter, and it'll ask that you kill Juno Hoslow, Knight of Blood. You'll find them at the Mountaintops of Giants, near the Shack of the Lofty, and once you defeat him, you'll gain his armor and his Petal Whip.

For now, you can choose to kill Tanith, get her armor, and defeat her knight before leaving Volcano Manor behind for good. The Knight drops one of the game's best Incantations, Aspect of the Crucible: Breath.

Also, you don't have to leave Volcano Manor just yet if you don't want to. Take the time to thoroughly explore the area if you want, as there's plenty of loot and the occasional secret passage to spend time venturing down. There's also a Godskin Noble miniboss that we recommend facing before continuing with Elden Ring's story.

Volcano Manor is a castle located on the west-most of Atlus Plateau in Elden Ring. The Manor is considered a haven for a couple of NPCs that players can interact with during their journey through the Lands Between. Inside, when meeting with Tanith, she will task Tarnished with three requests with a promise that they will eventually meet Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, upon their completion.Players should keep in mind that accepting Tanith's requests is defying the Two Fingers. Fortunately, there's another way to Reach Rykard for people who don't want to choose sides. The Volcano Manor and its NPCs are an intriguing encounter in Elden Ring.RELATED: Elden Ring: Spiritcaller Cave Walkthrough

The second method of getting to the manor requires players to head to Raya Lucaria Academy and use the water wheel lift to reach the lowest floor. There, Tarnished will find the Abductor Virgins. If people get close to them while low on HP, the NPC will grab them and put them in its cage. If Tarnished get killed this way, players will resurrect in the Subterranean Inquisition Chamber Site of Lost Grace, which is an underground area of the Volcano Manor.

The last method for reaching the Volcano Manor involves exploring the Lands Between and reaching the designated location. The Volcano Manor is located southwest of the Ninth Mt. Gelmir Campsite Site of Lost Grace. From there, players should jump down to the cliff, drop down again, and then keep moving southwest until they reach the Manor.

After entering the Volcano Manor, players should be sure to light the Volcano Manor Site of Lost Grace. Next, they should speak with Tanith to join the Volcano Manor. Upon agreeing, she'll hand over the Drawing-Room Key, which opens most of the locked doors in the castle. Players can then find the room that has Rya and Knight Bernal and take the Letter from Volcano Manor that's on the table.

Old Knight Istvan's sign is located north of Warmaster's Shack Site of Lost Grace in Limgrave. From the shack's bonfire, Tarnished should summon Torrent and head north past the pack of Wolves and then stop under the bridge. There, they'll need to interact with the red summon sign to be teleported into Old Knight Istvan's world as an Invader.

Old Knight Istvan is fairly easy to beat. They have simple attack combos, which can be easily evaded. Players just need to be careful of their gravity pull attack. Defeating them rewards players with:

After beating Old Knight Istvan, players should return to the Volcano Manor and speak with Tanith. She'll give them the Magma Shot Spell as a reward. After that, players should enter the room that has the two NPCs and take another letter.
