Caesar's lead attorney, James Walker, told CBS46 that a judge agreed with Caesar's claim that the video, which shows multiple images of alcohol, violated "the brand, image and name of a Christian pastor." Glenda Hatchett, another of Caesar's attorneys says the deal jeopardized a potential deal for her client with Snoop Dogg that would have gone to charity.

It all began when Atlanta based remixer DJ Suede received a video clip of Caesar singing her classic gospel hit "Hold My Mule" in a 2007 remake of the 1988 original. Suede remixed the song for pure fun in anticipation of Thanksgiving, focusing on the line in which Caesar rattles off a slew of yummy dinner treats that she's got cooking: "I got beans, greens, potatoes, tomatoes, lambs, rams, hogs, dogs, chickens, turkeys, rabbits ... you name it!", she preaches when recounting the story of a farmer who screams out his list of edibles after being ejected from a church for shouting too loud.

The tenth of 12 children, Shirley Caesar was born October 13, 1938. Her father James was a tobacco worker who was well-known in the Carolinas as the lead singer in a gospel quartet, the Just Came Four. Shirley began singing with the group at age ten. When she was twelve, her father died, and she began touring with an evangelist named LeRoy Johnson, who also had a television show in Portsmouth, Virginia. In 1951, at thirteen, she recorded her first song "I'd Rather Have Jesus." While still in high school, she toured throughout the Carolinas.

Her determination took her to North Carolina Central College where she studied business education. She has said that she got the call to God's work in the middle of a typing test. According to Kim Hubbard of People, she heard someone call out her name. Shirley turned to the young woman next to her and asked if she had spoken. When Shirley went home, she lay on the bed, and heard the same voice: "Behold, I have called you from your mother's womb and I have anointed your lips to preach the gospel." Shirley believed that this was a message that foretold special work for her in spreading the Gospel. Around the same time,Shirley heard Chicago's female gospel group, the Caravans, and she saw an opportunity to answer the call. She sought an audition with the group, was immediately hired, and left school for a life of singing and ministry.

Born in Durham, North Carolina, gospel singer Shirley Caesar began singing as a child, inspired by her father, "Big Jim" Caesar, a singer in the Just Come Four gospel quartet. Nicknamed "Baby Shirley," she made her first recording, "I'd Rather Have Jesus," in 1951, and sang throughout the South during her teenage years. In 1958 she began to gain national recognition as a soloist with the Caravan Singers, which included Albertina Walker and Inez Andrews. Although at the time a Baptist, Caesar adopted the "sanctified" style of gospel singing, characterized by fast tempos and extensive improvisation. Recordings from this period include "I've Been Running for Jesus a Long Time, and I'm Not Tired Yet" (1958), "Hallelujah, It's Done" (1961), and "I Won't Be Back" (1962). In 1966 she left the Caravan Singers and formed the Caesar Singers. She continued to perform and record, but her style became less energetic and ornamental. Instead, she favored the "song and sermonette" approach then popular with gospel singers, performing songs such as "Don't Drive Your Mama Away" (1969), "No Charge" (1978), and "Faded Roses" (1980).

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, it was seemingly nowhere you could go on the Internet without seeing a U Name It Challenge video. The latest viral video gone wild, someone snagged old footage of a Pastor Shirley Caesar sermon and song titled "Hold My Mule" where she names off different food items, and remixed it with a trap beat. Links were shared. Laughs were had. All was good, seemingly. But one video in particular appears to have Caesar upset, as she has now filed a motion against an Atlanta DJ for claiming that he used the sermon without authorization.

Caesar and her lawyers have filed a motion with a judge to have the video removed claiming it, "violates the brand, image and name of a Christian pastor," reports CBS 46. They are alleging the video is worth upwards of $5 million in losses.
