Uptodownis a multi-platform app store specialized in Android. Our goal is to provide free and open access to a large catalog of apps without restrictions, while providing a legal distribution platform accessible from any browser, and also through its official native app.

I was pleasantly surprised when I got to know that I can download Puffin Browser as an app on mobile and tablet devices and browse my way through to otherwise blocked websites / denied applications. Just to confirm what I did:

4. Browsed through to www.flickr.com using Safari and as expected was blocked as an application, but when I open up / use Puffin and go to www.flickr.com; I am sweetly allowed to go through.

Puffin is a cloud browser meaning that they proxy all traffic for the client to the Puffin servers via SSL. You should be able to create a custom App-ID using the hostname of the server cert cloudmosa.com.

Puffin looks like it proxies the traffic to their servers. It might even use a VPN. You may be able to use an SSL decrypt policy, but it would be a challenge to set up without a static destination address. If you have an active support contract, I would recommend opening a case so a full investigation can be done. Submitting it via the app request form is a great first step and may even be enough to get a signature created as well.

Hey Guys.. Got a work around for this. Created a custom URL category and blocked *.cloudmosa.* (the servers in the cloud that puffin uses in the background). and then blocked *.puffinbrowser.*. Add the URL category to a rule and deny the traffic. Simple work around. Nevertheless, this app has been submitted to PAN. Hopefully we get to see it at some point of time.

Puffin Browser was initially released in 2010. It uses cloud servers for content processing.[8][9] It relays the network identity of its users to the websites they visit by adding an extra XFF (X-Forwarded-For) header in each HTTP request[10] containing the user's mobile device's IP address. For websites that did not support the XFF header, Puffin Browser is treated as a proxy server.[11]

Puffin Browser is compatible with Adobe Flash Player to play Adobe Flash content, including on mobile devices, where Flash was discontinued due to security issues.[12] The features also include a virtual trackpad, gamepad and on-screen keyboard functions.[13]

Puffin Browser is offered for several different platforms: Puffin Browser on Android (and formerly iOS), Puffin Secure Browser on Windows and MacOS, Puffin Internet Terminal[14] on Linux, Puffin TV Browser[15] on Android TVs and Puffin OS on mainstream smartphones.) Puffin Browser is also known to run on resource-limited hardware like Raspberry Pi[14] and set-top boxes.[16]

In May 2019, CloudMosa announced that they would discontinue the Puffin Web Browser app on iOS devices due to Apple's App Store policies.[17] However, CloudMosa released Puffin Web Browser Lite for iOS devices, which does not support Adobe Flash Player.[18]

In 2013, CloudMosa introduced Puffin Academy, a free mobile browser with built-in Adobe Flash for K-12 students, teachers and parents. However, the iOS version of Puffin Academy was discontinued on July 1, 2019.[17]

In June 2018, CloudMosa announced the release of a separate lightweight browser app for iOS devices called Puffin Browser Lite, given that Apple rejected Puffin Web Browser updates. This lightweight browser app is based on iOS WebKit and does not support Adobe Flash Player.[18]It was later announced that they would discontinue the original Puffin Web Browser apps on July 1, 2019, on all iOS devices because of the block on updates, citing Apple's app review guideline 2.5.6. The shutdown was later pushed back to October 1, 2019,[17] and the free version of the original browser app was finally discontinued on November 20, 2019. CloudMosa announced on Facebook that the paid version on iOS, Puffin Browser Pro would remain available but no longer be updated.[24]

Before 2018, the Puffin Browser product family was only available on mobile devices. Starting in 2018, Puffin Browser released a desktop version, Puffin Secure Browser for Windows. In May 2019, Puffin Secure Browser for macOS was released.

Right before the opening of CES 2019, CloudMosa announced a new Puffin Browser product family member, Puffin Internet Terminal, a desktop virtualization app running on Raspbian for Internet surfing designed for Raspberry Pi. Puffin Internet Terminal was selected as a CES 2019 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Computer Hardware and Components product category.[29] Later in August 2021, Puffin Internet Terminal was rebranded as Puffin Cloud Learning and released as a demo version that did not require a subscription to support students learning at home during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place.[30]

Puffin Web Browser is the standard Puffin Browser application for Android and formerly iOS. The Android Puffin web browser supports Adobe Flash content and features such as mouse cursor emulation and a virtual gamepad.[34] Users can choose where to save a downloaded file - either to users' devices or directly to their storage drive. The web browser also allows users to reduce the amount of data from sources such as Flash games that often consume a lot of data.[35]

Puffin Browser Lite is the standard Puffin application for iOS devices.[18] It is similar to the Puffin Web Browser for Android devices but does not support Adobe Flash Player. It has workspaces and password protection.

Because web pages render through the remote browser in the cloud, user traffic is passed via the Puffin servers. Some users criticise that Puffin may log their personal data such as passwords. [citation needed] However, Puffin's privacy policy states that they log no web page content and that they do not have access to users' passwords, and are in compliance with GDPR and CCPA.[36]

I recently downloaded and purchased the puffin browser from the App Store as I'm a tv addict and it was recommended as it's good to use for watching things on. However, upon downloading it I discovered there was an issue with it. A window kept popping up saying "connect to server, portal error, network diagnostics". I then clicked into network diagnostics and went through 3 steps which basically told me everything was okay and to wait a moment and restart the browser again. Which I have done about a billion times and still, no solution. So basically I'm just wondering is there any suggestions or solutions to fix this? Thanks!

I Had this same problem too, all I did to fix it was to go to settings, scroll down on the side bar on the left, to Puffin, then click on that and turn on "Use HTTP tunnel" It worked for me and now my puffin is as good as new!

I wish to play flash content in iPad app so i searched lot then finally i came to know Puffin browser will play flash content. In my app when user tapping a button the app redirected to puffin browser then it will play the flash content. then again if try to re-open my app from puffin browser i could not re-open it.I created URL Scheme for my app. after completion of flash video, i tried to open my app by using myApp:// in puffin browser but it does not re-open my app. if try same way in safari its working. Please help me

External URL opening will be supported in the next version. Do you mean you want to manually type "MyApp://SomeUrl" in Puffin and then open MyApp with SomeUrl? Is your app free to download? I'd like to give it a trial.

I have bought an online study course but I am told I need Puffin web browser to view the course. It appears I can install Puffin browser on my Android phone (Vodafone Smart Prime 7), but if I decide after completing the course to go back to normal Google Chrome browser, would Puffin easily uninstall? Will it cause any problem?

You can definitely, easily and like other apps, remove this app from your phone either through Settings app or from Play Store app itself. Alternatively, you can choose to keep it by following the other answer here.

Actually no.... it's simply just another application, Android allows you to choose your default browser of choice, Puffin won't bug you up at all you can just launch it from home screen when you need it and it can be used as an alternative browser. Something like this should pop up. So in short, Puffin Browser will not bug you up a bit and you are good to go.

So 2020-12-31 is coming. For our Mac users, we cannot download the mini-client as suggested by Oasis. For me, I have download puffin browser on my iPad, and this is the remaining way for me to play here. It says puffin will continue to support flash after 2020-12-31. But, here comes the question. Even though puffin continue to support flash , could Oasis allow Apple users to use puffin browsers to login to Naruto online after 12.31 apart from the one suggested before (I.e. China flash player). Please give us a reply. Thanks!

To answer your question, Oasis doesn't have any power or control over the Puffin Browser since it is not an application under Oasis nor Tencent. Only Puffin developers can answer that question of yours, aside from the fact that the Naruto Online game isn't designed to be played on mobile. I suggest you guys should ask or contact the Puffin developers through their social media platforms to inquire about it.

On the other hand, our tech and developer team are still looking for ways to accommodate MacOS users in terms of having their own Mini-Client or a way to play the game. We will update all of you when the time comes. We know how you guys feel about it and we will not stop working on it, please be patient for now until we fix the issue about that matter. Thank you.
