My name is Alana Kent and I’m a student at Northeastern University. As a part of a class project taught by Dr. Mary Whitney Kelting, my peers and I are doing research on the opioid crisis in Boston, the public response, and how the city has addressed the epidemic--specifically Operation Clean Sweep.
Since ACT UP is committed to direct action to end the AIDS crisis and was formed in response to social neglect and government negligence, we believe that your insight would be helpful in constructing informational materials about what the average Bostonian can do in response to the opioid epidemic in Boston. Specifically, we are looking for information about how we can resist traditional hierarchies that prevent people from becoming educated about this issue and helping others.
