Ihave a Logitech m525 mouse that I use at work (Win 7 32-bit). For the first little while, I would take the mouse home with me which meant unplugging the Unifying receiver. After a few times doing this however, I noticed that if I plugged the Unifying receiver back into a previously installed port, it wouldn't work. Over time, I've actually run out of ports to plug this device into. I get the following "USB Device Not Recognized" error:

This is typical behavior of a broken/worn down unifying receiver. The only way to fix this is to purchase another. However, you'll have to setup your old devices to the new receiver using Logitech's software.


This may have to be done with each new computer you use the mouse/new unifying receiver with. Although after a fresh install of Windows 8, my receiver picked up the mouse just fine without any of the Logitech software.


If the Receiver isn't being recognized it is not necessarily broken. I plugged my t600 receiver into my pc (win 7 64bit) and i am having these same problems. I move over to my laptop (windows 8) with the same receiver and i can use the mouse with no difficulty. There is something about windows 7 64 bit that is having issues with this. Test your receiver on a different device before claiming its broken. or returning your product. Chances are you may be able to make this work.


This seems to have affected not just logitech unifying receivers, but all USB Composite Devices.My Android tablet is also affected, as well as my Microsoft Xbox 360 USB Controller receiver, since it has two 360 pads sync'd to it, but my wired PowerA Minix360 is not affected. My microsoft wired keyboard 600 and logitech V220 are also not affected, as they are not 'USB Composite Device', but 'USB Human Interface Device'.


USB Composite Device is used to wrap up multiple child Devices in a single parent Device, such as two USB Human Interface Device endpoints (One for keyboard, one for mouse) like the Logitech Unifying Receiver does.


My Logitech USB receiver had similar problems to those above. Drivers were not available or couldn't be found. I tried everything. Turned out it was a problem with the last Windows Update 2/13/2018. The link below shows you how to go into the Device Manager and command prompt to uninstall the last update. Not sure if it only uninstalled it or if it uninstalled and then re-installed with a fix, but my mouse and keyboard are working again. See link and explanation below.

I opened my 2 Logitech receivers (as suggested in the youtube video) and the four copper pads appeared highly corroded with a great deal of black oxidation on the leads. I could not get them to work by stuffing a piece of paper between the circuit board and USB housing, as suggested in the video, but I was able to hold the USB receiver inside the laptop USB port with my hand and it was recognized. However a few moments later and I probably quivered and lost electrical contact, and it said, "USB port not recognized" after having formerly recognized it.


You probably need a new receiver, or you can follow the youtube video, take apart the nub, and try to put it together so it will work. I must say, you may not have good luck, the manufacturing quality of this USB transceiver is horrible, Logitech, shame on you!


In my case, the copper line (path, whatever) was broken. You need to connect it by soldering. It will work. I attached a photo with a possible broken line (see photo). It was #3 in my case. First, open it with pliers than pull out the logic board and fixsee the logic board and possible broken line place.Hope it helps!


I had a similar issue. In my case I found the USB receiver actually pushed slightly too far in to the port. It somehow detected as an HID Mouse but did not install properly. If I pulled it back out just a millimeter it would kick in and work just fine.


Thanks to you both. I actually have the software installed (I install it on every device that uses the unifying receivers). I have removed it and reinstalled it, but have not been able to resolve the issue.


If you are using win10, try plugging the Unify in a different port than it is right now. My father came across a similar problem and IIRC that was the solution. Something about the drivers acting up because Microsoft.

I have 2 computers with wireless pairing issues. One is an HP Laptop with a Logitech trackball (M570) The other is a keyboard and mouse (K360) on an ASUS desktop Both are running Win 10 Pro (Build 1903) using Unifying dongles on USB 2.0 ports They are in the same room. Any ideas on how to avoid conflict in pairing?


Subject says it all for the most part. I have an external USB hub connected to one on my Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports on my MacBook Air early 2020 model running Catalina 10.15.4. At random times during the day (2-3 times a day) my Logitech G602 mouse and external Apple Keyboard will stop responding completely and only a reboot will restore functionality. The USB 2.0 HUB under System Information->Hardware->USB completely disappears until the MacBook is reported. Disconnecting/reconnecting the USB Hub does not resolve the issue. I have attached a screen capture of what the USB device looks like normally when things are working correctly. This MacBook Air has replaced a late 2019 MacBook Pro that was running Mojave and then Catalina 10.15.4 for the last 2 days of use. Using the same USB hub and external devices I did not experience this issue with that configuration. Granted I only was running Catalina for 2 days with the MacBook Pro 2019.


Yeah, on my MacBook Air 2020 my wireless usb mouse cuts out too when using the 2.4ghz USB A receiver plugged into the USB A ports on my USB-C hub. My workaround is using a USB-A to USB-C adapter, and plugging that into the USB C port on my hub, and for some reason that solves it. But when the receiver is directly plugged into the USB A ports on the hub, it intermittently cuts out.


I have a late 2016 MBP and the latest OS updates. This morning, none of my Logitech USB devices (K750 keyboard, M310 mouse) worked either. I thought it might be a faulty older usb 2 hub, but testing with a new USB-C to USB 3 hub, I got no recognition of the devices. I needed to work rather than troubleshoot all day, so I bought an extended mac bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse, which work well. I am also concerned that there is something going on with the usb connectors or how the system software handles usb 2 devices. I did upgrade both the firmware and the logitech unifying software prior to going all bluetooth. Please fix this issue..it sounds like something more than external hardware. Thanks


My MBP is connected to my Dell U2719DC as a USB Hub. My accessories connected to my Dell Monitor (Keyboard, Mouse Receiver and Soundbar) stop working intermittently as well. 2 to 3 times a day and only works again after a restart.


Download and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.


Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck in the Etrecheck's Privacy preference pane so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

Hi Becky, thanks for the reply and the suggestions. I did review If your Apple wireless mouse, keyboard, or trackpad isn't working with your Mac as expected but nothing suggested in the article seemed to help.


Some more background, I was using Time to Machine to backup my older 2019 MacBook Pro so I used the Migration Assistant to move or restore my Documents, Files, and Applications to my new MacBook Air 2020. At the time, my 2019 MacBook Pro was running Mojave.


Earlier today I noticed an older version of the Logitech Unifying Software was installed under Application->Utilities (ver 1.2.359). This version seems to be from 2014. Not even sure how this version worked with Mojave. In ny case, I removed this version from my MacBook Air and am now just using a generic Bluetooth mouse to test with since I believe the Logitech G602 mouse and the Logitech Unifying Software ver 1.2.359 is the culprit. If all goes well with the generic Bluetooth mouse and my Apple Keyboard doesn't stop responding then after a couple of days I will re-add the Logitech G602 mouse back into the picture and install the recommended Logitech Unifying Software ver 1.3.375.
