Astrologically speaking, the sun is the core personality (that we must feed to feel alive and excited), the planets are the voices in your head, and the signs are different qualities the core and those voices may take on. Each sign has light and shadow aspects to it. If you think about an astrological chart as the wheel, having 12 different houses and 12 different signs that could be in any house, the way to move out of the shadow side of a sign is not to try and move into its light aspects, but to move into the opposite house (and into whatever sign is there).

Our ascendant sign is the sign at the horizon at time of birth. It represents the filter, the way you see the world and how the world sees you. Ours is Sagittarius in the 9th house (ethics, beliefs). The light side of Sagittarius is philosophical, curious, and forward-thinking. The shadow side is overly optimistic with bad judgement.

Meunier mentioned that the outer ring of planets stay put for a while on astrological charts since they take such a long time to make an orbit, so they tend to affect large groups of people at a time (and it can be hard to pinpoint what the affect is from the inside).

Uranus is the planet of individuality, what makes us unique. Interestingly, Meunier noted that Uranus was not discovered until around 1780; around the time when our culture was potentially shifting from thinking of people as members of a community to individuals cohabitating.

Neptune is the planet of spirituality and mysticism (Meunier explained that Neptune was discovered mathematically before it could be seen from Earth, which I thought was fascinating. It was proven true before it could be observed physically!). The sign of Pisces has a similar spiritual energy and was last in the same house as Neptune in 2012- it will be there again in 2026. When these two coincide, it can bring us to a different level of awareness.

Hi Jen, As a new Baptiste instructor I love referring to this post quite frequently. I was wondering what you'd recommend to turn JIP into a 30 min/ 45 min class. This time length has become popular with the boom in zoom yoga. P.s David was my mentor after YTT he's amazing :D

Keeping with the 'get them moving' I would say keep at least 3 Sun As and Bs (one pose, one breath, even in down dog) and omit the fingers to toes/palms to toes, eagle, tree, and flow through Grounding without holding. Reducing the rest periods (like the 5 breaths in down dog and the forward folds) will increase the heat in the student's body. They'll rest if and when they need it but you'll be allowing for flow even in a shorter class - especially when teaching to people on zoom. They're most likely not heating their practice space to 90F (which is what JIP is designed for and includes rest periods in the sequence), and as a result, quickening the pace of the practice will help generate heat.

These Meridian Charts depict the path of each of the 12 main meridians, corresponding to organ systems. These are useful for Yin Yoga teachers who are curious about these energy pathways and interested in understanding which yoga poses influence which meridians. And they are drawn on a female form, which may seem revolutionary.

A waterfall chart in Excel is a visual representation of data that illustrates how an initial value is influenced by various positive and negative factors. It shows the cumulative effect of these factors, allowing for a clear understanding of the overall changes in the data. In Excel, a waterfall chart is typically created using a combination of bar and line graphs, with the bars representing the positive and negative values and the lines indicating the cumulative totals. This type of chart is commonly used in financial analysis to visualize the impact of different factors on a starting value.

Thank you for participating in the Excel Challenge related to Waterfall Chart!

I hope you found this challenge to be a fun and engaging way to improve your Excel skills and learn more about how to work with Waterfall Chart! in Excel.

If your body measurement is on the borderline between two sizes, order the smaller size for a tighter fit or the larger size for a looser fit. If your body measurements for bust and waist result in two different suggested sizes, order the size from your bust measurement.

In 1984 at age 45, Sri Dharma Mittra photographed himself some 1300 times in all the main yoga poses and many variations, plotting the resulting images on a chart he wished he had had available as a reference tool for the study of Asana, the third limb of yoga practice. Searchable highlights from The Master Chart of 908 Asanas are featured below to support you in your study of Yoga. You can search using the English or transliterated Sanskrit names of the main poses of yoga and many variations, as well. To further your study of yoga, best is to study directly with a Dharma Yoga Registered Teacher (DYRT).

Nowadays, the roles are reversed. In most cases, it is the teachers of yoga who have to find their own students and explain the value of yoga practices to the general population. That can be a challenge because most yoga teachers and yoga therapists are not fond of marketing themselves. They believe that their work should speak for itself and rely on word of mouth to spread the word about their services. In my experience, word of mouth does work over time, but only when your students, friends, and family who spread that word understand what it is that you do and how it is different from others.

To be able to communicate our message of yoga effectively and authentically, we need to be clear for ourselves who we are as teachers, what is our unique approach to yoga, and what we are ultimately working toward.

And ultimately, what is fair to you? What would be a fair financial compensation for the effort, money, time, and energy you put into your yoga education, practice, and teaching? How do you figure that out?

These are the questions that any yoga teacher or yoga therapist needs to have clarity on, yet oftentimes, you simply do not have enough time or bandwidth to sit down and chart your yoga course. We would love to help you with that.

Starting next week, we will address the questions above and many others in our upcoming webinar series, Chart the Course for Your Yoga Business. In this series, you will hear from yoga professionals who either have formal education in business and marketing or have figured out effective strategies on their own and would like to share them with you.

Chart the Course for Your Yoga Business webinar series is free for Sequence Wiz members (learn more about Sequence Wiz membership). If you want to participate, sign into your Sequence Wiz account, go to the Sequence Wiz community, and join the Chart the Course for Your Yoga Business discussion group. Hope to see you there!
