Hey all,

As we try to get to a “Implementer’s Draft” of the Activity Streams specs, I thought it would be useful for us to brainstorm a checklist or TO DO list of additions/edits we’d like to make to the Activity Streams specs or tasks we’d like to do.  I’ve started a draft list below.

Please reply to edit and as the list stabilizes (or if threads are hard to follow), we can potentially move to the wiki as a more permanent archive and to go through and check-off items from the list.  (I’ve taken my best effort at prioritization but it’s just a best guess.)

Thanks—

--Rob

(Merged from the bottom of http://wiki.activitystrea.ms/Future-meetings)

MUST – things that we must have for an implementer’s draft

* Move (or postpone to v1.1) details on location activity context (ASms Schema spec section 3.3.1)

* Finish RSS TODO (ASms Atom Extensions spec section 5.2)

* Finish Security TODO (ASms Atom Extensions spec section 9)

* Object-type for Review

SHOULD – that that we should have for an implementer’s draft

* Wiki page listing implementers – in progress at: https://wiki.activitystrea.ms/Implementation-Scenarios

* Object-type for Folder

* Associating custom text with an <activity:verb>

* How to represent “via” or other source information

* Object-type for List

* Object-type for Product

* Wiki page suggesting best practices for de-dupe’ing

MAY – things that would be nice to have for an implementer’s draft but could potentially be delayed to a v1.1 or v2

* Some way to represent a Rating

* Merging person representation from <activity:actor> à <author>

* Gaming-related verbs and objects

Rob,

I took this list and put it on the wiki to bring it more visibility:

https://activitystreams.pbworks.com/To-Do

It's not entirely complete, but it's a good start. I also added
various slots so people can sign up to help out — or indicate that
they're working on different aspects.

Thanks for kick-starting this Rob!

Thanks Chris. I like moving this to the wiki.

I've added links to the To-do page on:
* FrontPage
* Future meetings

I've also signed-up for two slots and talked to Jason Kahn about helping also.

Thanks--

Should people just sign up for slots they care about?  I'm happy to help with (in my personal priority order):

P1: Merging person representation from <activity:actor> → <author>
p2: How to represent “via” or other source information
P3: Wiki page suggesting best practices for de-dupe’ing

For now, yes. Just add your preferred handle in the column. If there's more than one person that steps up — all parties can coordinate with one another.

I don't have time (or interest!) in micromanaging, but I think having a centralized task list would be very good for us.

I've added myself to one thing (author spec, I need this for Salmon) and maybe a couple of others at https://activitystreams.pbworks.com/To-Do.

Hey John,

     In the Windows Live implementation of outbound Activity Streams that Matt (CC’d) and I are working on, we have some <activity:actor> data in the <atom:author> element.  You can see what this currently looks like at http://www.testmash.com/WLASms/.  I’d be very interested in if we’re consistent with what you’re thinking or if there are changes that you would suggest.  Thanks very much—

Hi Rob,

My main concern ATM is that there's a standard way to specify a discoverable[1] URI for an author (like http://cid-b8a48430223e3c38.profile.live.com/) and a standard, unambiguous place for processors to look for it.  It looks to me like your usage is exactly in line with that main concern.

But I don't see any activity:actor data inside e.g., http://www.testmash.com/WLASms/?cid=b8a48430223e3c38; just the live:id identifier.  Is that identifier 1:1 to the profile ID, or are things more complicated than that?  Am I looking at the right feed? Having a bit of trouble xmllinting it -- is there a pretty xml print output option?

-John
[1] Where by 'discoverable' I mean that I can stick in either a Webfinger identifier or a profile page, and if the owner wants to, they can enable it for additional XRD based discovery.
