Hey all,

(Expanding on http://wiki.activitystrea.ms/Gaming) I’ve been talking with a few colleagues about gaming activities and I’m wondering if others think gaming activities should include both the game and the platform or jus the game.  For example:

* Anna Apple achieved Underboss in Mafia Wars

* Anna Apple achieved Underboss in Mafia Wars on MySpace

I’ve gotten mixed feedback from colleagues and I’d love to see if other folks have perspectives here.

Thanks—

I'd say activities like this would need in include the platform. From my experiences on Twitter it would just be too easy for others to hop on a popular name for marketing and confuse the heck out of people.

Unless of course the name context was given a namespace or something that could be used to indicate the source to consumers.

mafia wars is essential and I imagine most platform owners would want to have the platform from a branding perspective (myspace in your example).

How would each of these parts be represented?

How would you represent multiplatform (transplatform?) games? Where I'm playing Hearts on my iPhone, you're playing with me via a facebook app, and Anna's playing with us on X-box.

Do you want to represent the UI access point, the surface someone uses/plays? This would be like twitter's 'posted via' reference. Or are you representing the game host or game publisher?

It should include the platform and the game.

I just had a glance through the wiki page. This models seems hardcoded
to SN games and excludes games (eg mmorpgs) that might generate events
people want see outside the game world. Is that intentional?

Perfect timing:

gaming activity sent from uncharted2 to twitter; note the activity types.
