Master Chef Mike Ciardi will be holding down the boil, cooking up a spicy concoction of head-on shrimp, crab, corn, potatoes, garlic, and Andouille sausage. After realizing his deep passion for food during his undergraduate years in New Orleans, Mike enrolled at the French Culinary Institute and has since been cooking his way across Brooklyn in the kitchens of Marcey Brownstein, and Radish.
Community Voices Heard (CVH) is a member-led multi-racial organization, principally women of color and low-income families in New York State that builds power to secure social, economic and racial justice for all. CVH accomplishes this through grassroots organizing, leadership development, policy changes, and creating new models of direct democracy. Learn more at www.cvhaction.org.
CVH has been a key organization in launching Participatory Budgeting both in the Rockaways, and 20 other city-council districts throughout NYC. Participatory Budgeting gives real power to real people to decide how public money gets spent in their neighborhoods. Learn more by watching this video http://vimeo.com/71979563.
